As a Resident Assistant/HHA, you’ll help residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, meals, and personal care. You’ll also assist with creating a safe, clean, and homelike environment while supporting resident rights, choices, and dignity. Your role ensures residents receive compassionate care while feeling respected and valued.
Resident Assistant/HHA Duties and Responsibilities
Provide direct care to residents according to their individualized plan of care.
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility.
Encourage resident independence and social interaction.
Monitor residents’ physical and emotional well-being and report changes to supervisors.
Maintain a safe, clean, and homelike environment.
Support residents during meals, including set-up, assistance, and social engagement.
Follow all safety, infection control, and privacy procedures.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
Resident Assistant/HHA Qualifications and Skills
Completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant or CNA program and current certification in states where required.
Previous experience in senior care or healthcare preferred.
Compassion, patience, and a resident-centered approach.
Strong communication, observation, and time-management skills.
Ability to perform physical tasks safely and provide support as needed.
