Demonstrate steadfast adherence to The New York Times standards of ethics, accuracy and fairness, even in high-pressure situations.

Qualities & Experience:

Extensive experience reporting on international and national news in a large newsroom.

Strong news judgment, quick decision making, and the ability to pivot among stories and topics.

Experience working fast on deadline, handling evolving storylines, and writing about a broad range of topics quickly and with authority.

Excellent writing skills and a strong command of grammar and style.

Experience developing sources, usually from afar.

A passion for covering news in engaging ways and for infusing it into live and breaking news.

Creativity in identifying and developing news features with strong appeal to digital readers, especially outside the United States.

A desire to learn new tools and journalism forms, and an interest in shaping them for the future.

A reader-focused outlook that serves curious digital audiences.
