
Overview
Loureiro Engineering Associates is currently seeking a SUE Crew Chief to support the continued growth of our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) division. The ideal candidate will be based in Central Connecticut or the Boston, Massachusetts area. This position plays a key role in field operations by leading a utility locating crew and performing utility designating and marking services for both large and small‑scale projects. The SUE team works closely with our Land Survey group to support the design and upgrade of utility infrastructure for some of the largest utility companies in the Northeast.

Lead and assist with utility locating operations.
Ensure adherence to company and client safety protocols.
Prepare field sketches and download data from equipment.
Coordinate with survey staff to verify designation markings.
Collaborate with office staff on scheduling and mapping tasks.
Ensure accuracy and quality of utility designating and marking.
Monitor and support efficiency of utility locator performance.
Requirements
Motivated and dependable field professional.
Strong leadership and decision‑making skills.

Physically capable of performing daily fieldwork.
Committed to high standards of safety and quality.
What You Bring
1–3 years of experience in utility locating.
Thorough understanding of subsurface utilities.
Valid U.S. driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S.
Ability to pass a drug test.
Willingness to travel as needed.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry equipment across uneven terrain.
Physical ability to walk 3–5 miles per day.
Adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment.
