Albany Community Action Partnership (ACAP) partners with families and communities to expand opportunities and build stronger networks to foster upward economic mobility. ACAP is seeking a skilled Grant Writer to support our mission by developing compelling grant applications and securing critical funding that directly impacts individuals and families in Albany County. This role is responsible for researching and identifying prospective funders, preparing high-quality applications, and ensuring timely reporting to federal, state, and private partners.

Pay $25-$28 per hour; Contracted position up to 20 hours per week; flexible schedule

Requirements Minimum Qualifications

2-3 years of experience in program development and fund development-particularly grant writing.

Proven experience in grant writing, proposal development, and grant management, preferably within the nonprofit sector

Strong research skills and the ability to identify and evaluate funding opportunities and stay current on trends in the nonprofit sector.

Ability to collaborate effectively with leadership and program staff to develop competitive proposals and support organizational fundraising strategy and collaborate with program staff to gather data, stories, and outcomes.

Responsibilities

Research, identify, and evaluate federal, state, local, and private funding opportunities that align with organizational priorities

Monitor online and print publications for new funding opportunities and RFPs, assessing relevance to ACAP’s mission, programs, and strategic goals

Develop clear, compelling, and mission-driven grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting materials

Manage the full lifecycle of grants, including application preparation, submission, tracking, and compliance

Maintain an up-to-date grants calendar, ensuring all deadlines for applications and reports are met

Review, edit, and finalize all proposal submissions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with funder expectations

Collaborate with program and finance staff to gather data, outcomes, budgets, and program information needed for strong proposals

Prepare accurate and timely progress reports for funders, ensuring adherence to grant requirements and organizational standards

Stay informed and monitor trends in the funding landscape and recommend new opportunities to advance organizational goals

Support relationship-building efforts with stakeholders and funding partners

Maintain organized grant files, documentation, and reporting records for internal use and audit readiness

Contribute to long-term development planning and support the identification of future funding opportunities

Maintain a weekly stand-in appointment with ACAP leadership.
