The Customer Service Representative interacts with customers via phone and email to provide pricing quotes, enter sales orders, and respond to other customer inquiries. Candidates must be an enthusiastic communicator, thoughtful listener and dedicated team player with the desire to grow and succeed.

Essential Duties and Importance of Job Responsibilities Most critical part of the job responsibilities; requires most of the employee’s time and effort.

Primary contact for customer service requirements

Handle sales inquiries, orders and customer communications

Pricing stock inventory items as well as cut to size parts

Accurately entering quote/order information into the computer system

Perform outcalls to develop orders

Sourcing non-stock (buyout) items to fulfill customer’s requirements

Communication with customer throughout the order fulfillment process

Expedite and trace customer orders

Maintaining positive relationships with established customers

Communication with management and other employees to facilitate customer satisfaction and further sales

Aware of sourcing alternatives – mill lead times in the purchasing of stock and non-stock items

Work Experience / Education Requirements

College degree preferred; or one to two years of related sales experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Quantity – Meets productivity standards; completes work in timely manner; strives to increase productivity.

Attendance/Punctuality – Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time.

Dependability – Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions.

Computer Skills – Includes MS Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.

Physical Requirements

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
