Aquatics Director

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA Aquatic programs. The Aquatics Director at the YMCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. Essential Functions: Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and Volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pool. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings. Creates and schedules swim classes in accordance with YMCA of USA standards. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility. Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Ensure program quality and effectiveness through surveys and evaluations. Be accessible, visible and interactive with staff and members on a daily basis. Develop and administer departmental budget to achieve operating goals. Ensure that program payments, refunds and credits are handled according to policy and in a timely manner. Perform Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities as assigned.
