Performs a variety of clerical tasks in support of Municipal Court operations; provides customer service to the public; responds to routine court inquiries; receives and processes court fees and fines; performs data entry; processes and assists in preparing court documentation; and performs other related duties as assigned. Examples of Duties

Provides customer service and assistance to the public in person and over the telephone. Answers and directs calls to appropriate individuals; staffs the front counter. Responds to routine inquiries from the public; provides information regarding the Court's policies, procedures, and/or other court related matters. Accepts, processes, and records monies received for court fees, fines, and tickets. Balances and maintains assigned cash drawer. Provides assistance in processing and posting mail payments. Arranges payment plans; explains payment options to defendants. Coordinates defensive driving, insurance probation, and deferred adjudication. Documents and processes complaints received from the public. Performs data entry; codes tickets; monitors information for accuracy and completeness. Participates in scheduling court proceedings; notifies parties regarding court dates. Provides clerical support to the Municipal Court Judge and attorneys. Assists in preparing deferral offers, arraignment letters, and/or other court documents. Performs other related duties as assigned or required. Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent, and one year customer service/cash handling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License. Must obtain Level I Court Clerk Certification within first 18 months of hire. Physical Demands/Work Environment

Work is performed in a municipal court environment. May be exposed to potentially irate members of the public, depending on area of assignment. Subject to sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 10 pounds. Exposure to infectious diseases and interaction with potentially irate members of the public is involved.
