OVERVIEW: The VP, Account Director (VP, AD) is responsible for leading the integrated team and driving strategic growth for a key healthcare client. In this role, you will foster strong client partnerships and internal teams alike, ensuring the successful execution of integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels. The VP, AD is responsible for delivering client satisfaction, driving team performance, and supporting business development efforts. A deep understanding of the healthcare and pharmaceutical advertising landscape, regulatory requirements, and strategic planning is essential.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Acumen:

Serve as the bridge between strategy and execution—ensuring the strategic vision is clearly articulated to clients, translated into actionable plans for the team, and consistently reflected across all brand initiatives and deliverables. Client Partnership:

Build and nurture trusted, client relationships by providing proactive strategic counsel, anticipating needs, and ensuring excellence in delivery. Day-to-Day Account Leadership:

Maintain strong, professional presence that immediately puts internal team and clients at ease. Manage the daily operations of assigned accounts, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and communications are clear, accurate, and consistent across all internal and client teams. Team Management & Mentorship:

Provides leadership for teams by guiding and motivating staff to achieve their potential. Sets example for the department and serves as advocate for their teams. Lead with a coach/player mentality, providing strategic oversight across workstreams. Culture setting:

Oversee financial management, forecasting, SOW development and process optimization to drive both efficiency and profitability. Qualifications 10–15+ years of healthcare advertising experience with proven success leading integrated accounts. Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and collaboration at all levels. Demonstrated track record of driving client satisfaction, operational excellence, and financial growth. Experience in ophthalmology and/or rare disease strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree required

This position is located in New York City and follows a hybrid work model, requiring three days (Tuesday-Thursday) in the office. Consideration also given to California based talent. Must be comfortable managing West Coast–based clients, with the flexibility to engage and lead important conversations after traditional eastern business hours to ensure seamless partnership and alignment

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE: Client Relationship Management • Serve as the strategic leader for multiple healthcare clients, cultivating strong relationships at the highest day-to-day levels. • Anticipate client needs, provide proactive solutions, and guide them through complex marketing challenges in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. • Brand Champion: Ensures everyone is focused on brand strategy and positioning: client, account team, and other internal departments. • Agency Champion: Understands and advocates the agency POV. • Ensure the client is kept informed on all account activity. Account Leadership: • Oversee execution in partnership with PM to ensure each team delivers on client objectives, timelines, and budgets. Provide senior-level guidance and support to the junior account team, ensuring executional excellence and consistency in quality, strategy, and client services. Strategic Direction: • Ensure strategies align with clients’ business goals and industry trends, with a strong focus on innovation and measurable results. • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive, multi-channel marketing strategies for each account, including digital, social, print, and medical communications. • Manage internal quarterly business reviews. • Assist in new business pitches and proposal development when necessary. Team Development & Leadership: • Mentor and develop account team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. • Ensure team members are aligned with both client objectives and agency goals. • Assist in recruiting and developing talent within the department.

Financial Management: • Manage account profitability, overseeing the development and maintenance of budgets across multiple accounts. • Ensure all financial goals are met, including revenue growth, profitability, and projects margins.• Manage project scopes and timelines, flagging potential issues proactively. • Drive efficiency in resource allocation and time management. Cross-Department Collaboration: • Collaborate closely with creative, medical, digital, and strategy teams to ensure seamless integration of campaigns across all touchpoints. • Provide clear, strategic briefs to guide internal teams and ensure client satisfaction with creative deliverables. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight : • Ensure all marketing materials across accounts comply with healthcare industry regulations, including FDA, legal, and medical guidelines. New Business Development: • Identify opportunities for organic growth within existing accounts and actively contribute to new business pitches. • Partner with the business development team to build relationships with prospective clients and expand the agency’s healthcare portfolio. Thought Leadership: • Stay informed of the latest trends in advertising (HCP), including new marketing technologies, patient-centric communications, and regulatory updates. • Share knowledge with internal teams and clients to position the agency as a forward-thinking partner. YOUR QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or a related field. Advanced degrees (MBA, MPH) or relevant certifications in healthcare marketing are a plus. • 10+ years of account management experience • Extensive experience leading large pharmaceutical or healthcare accounts, with a proven ability to deliver integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns. • Deep knowledge of the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, including an understanding of FDA regulations and MLR processes. • Proven ability to drive organic growth and contribute to new business efforts. • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on mentorship and talent development. • Ability to manage complex projects, timelines, and budgets with precision. • A willingness to be hands-on and lead by example, demonstrating that no task is beneath you to ensure client and team success.
