Senior BSA Specialist
Overview The Senior BSA/AML Specialist plays a critical role in protecting the financial institution from money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes. The position serves as a key line of defense, ensuring compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). At German American, we rely on our employees’ expertise to efficiently deliver customer service excellence and support strong performance. As a Senior BSA Specialist, you review transactions, provide support to front‑line staff, and serve as a resource for BSA‑related topics, essential to the company’s compliance program.
What You’ll Do Day in the Life:
Your focus will be on deterring and detecting individuals who misuse the U.S. financial system. Daily you will review currency transaction reports (CTRs), customer risk rating reports and forms, and transaction and risk alerts provided by team members or BSA/AML software. You will perform OFAC reviews of transactions, complete high‑risk customer reviews, and review activity for CTR exemptions. Your attention to detail will be used to review reports for unusual activity on a regular basis. You will create cases for any unusual activity to meet BSA regulatory reporting requirements and submit Suspicious Activity Reports. You will also participate in system reviews designed to validate software functionality.

Regulations change, and to stay in the know you will engage with industry news, resources, and periodic training on BSA/AML regulations. Travel may be required for training.

Ability to multi‑task and prioritize in a regulatory reporting‑deadline‑driven environment
Detail oriented
Willingness and ability to learn our core processing software, BSA‑related products, regulatory requirements, and bank policy
Enthusiastic, self‑motivated, and team oriented
Willing to mentor team members
