Summary
The Senior Director, Business Development will be a strategic revenue leader responsible for expanding Bora Biologics’ presence within the Bay Area biotech market. This role combines territory ownership, executive-level relationship building, and deep biologics expertise to drive high-value CDMO partnerships.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive territory growth strategy aligned with corporate revenue goals.
Own the full sales lifecycle from prospecting through contract negotiation and deal closure.
Meet or exceed assigned annual revenue targets.
Proactively target biotech and pharmaceutical companies across discovery, preclinical, and clinical stages.
Conduct technical discovery discussions to uncover development and manufacturing needs.
Partner with client cross-functional teams (CMC, Regulatory, Technical Operations, Executive Leadership).
Translate client needs into scoped CDMO solutions.
Collaborate with internal Technical, Operations, and Finance teams to build competitive proposals.
Lead pricing strategy discussions and contract negotiations.
Navigate complex MSAs, work orders, and commercial agreements.
Stay current on biologics development trends, funding landscapes, and pipeline progressions, regulatory updates (FDA, EMA), and competitive CDMO positioning.
Represent Bora Biologics at industry conferences, partnering events, and investor forums.
Expand Bora’s referral and partner network across the Bay Area ecosystem.
Provide market insights to Commercial and Executive leadership.
Contribute to strategic positioning and service differentiation.
Act as voice-of-the-customer internally.
Requirements
Master’s or PhD degree in a life science discipline preferred, or Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of biologic CDMO experience. MBA in marketing is a plus.
Relevant sales or client interface experience required (5+ years) and a high level of technical and professional expertise in biologics.
Experience in selling in US markets.
Must possess in-depth knowledge of the biologics development and manufacturing processes and be familiar with the regulatory requirements for biotherapeutics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In-depth knowledge of biopharmaceutical CDMO market and proven track record in meeting sales goals.
Ability to handle technical discussions with client’s cross-functional teams and drive sales to successful deal closure.
Ability to prepare and present proposals and handle the subsequent contract negotiations.
Be a team player, possess strong interpersonal skills, lead with integrity and respect.
Deliver results, demonstrate Business Acumen, Champions Change, Engages and Inspires, Coaches and Develops.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and excel in time management and account prioritization.
Fluency in English essential, next to a local language (when not English).
Excellent communication skills.
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.).
