KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research seasonal trends, silhouettes, materials, and novelty techniques; bring new ideas through competitive shopping and research

Work closely with the Senior Woven Designer on artwork, layout, and colorway reviews

Communicate development details, including layouts and concepts for mockups, embellishments, and sourcing, to overseas factories; troubleshoot and partner with the team to ensure developments meet design standards

Work on visual presentations for key meetings, ensuring boards and decks effectively communicate and align with the LoveShackFancy language. Regularly update and ensure accuracy of flat sketches and CADs in the line sheet

Track the status of developments, ensure outstanding questions are resolved, follow up on emails, and problem-solve with senior team members throughout collection development

Create tech packs for development, including construction details, specs, and BOMs

Be detail-oriented and knowledgeable in technical aspects of woven development, including sketching, construction, and fit

Research and create new trim developments and oversee sourcing

Create drapes, 3D mockups, embroidery layouts, and trim layouts; support trim design and development

Attend fittings and take notes. Communicate changes through detailed tech pack comments, technical detail pages, and fit images. Work with factories to maintain design concept, fit, and quality standards throughout the development process

Update sketches to reflect fit changes during development and production fittings

Prepare sketch updates and BOMs for pass-off to the Production team post-market; tweak layouts as needed for costing and production needs

Assist in managing operations in the design studio to ensure a smooth and organized design process.

Prepare and alter samples for market and Fashion Week

SKILLS, QUALITIES & BEHAVIORS:

2–4 years of experience in a design environment

High taste level and strong creative ability

Exceptional design and fit sense

Skilled in hand drawing or Procreate for flats

Computer skills: expertise in Photoshop and Illustrator is required; proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Canva or similar presentation programs

Ability to think creatively in three dimensions and envision how designs will execute

Knowledgeable in technical aspects of construction; experience working with overseas development and able to allocate work to tailors

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills in a team environment

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Strong time management and project management skills

Proactive, organized, detail-oriented, with strong follow-through

Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands

Goal-oriented with strong organizational skills, a sense of priority for deadlines, and attention to detail

Mentor or management experience; proficiency in guiding interns, freelancers, and assistant freelancers while nurturing talent

BA or Associate Degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a comparable field

Hardworking and flexible with strong problem-solving skills
