AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Within AIS and Data Center Engineering, the Mechanical Solutions team drives rapid innovation in Mechanical Cooling and Controls systems used by AWS. Our designs are fundamentally changing the Data Center, providing operational and financial benefits that are critical to the success of the AWS business and its millions of customers.
This role provides the opportunity to engage with and lead the Sustaining or Product Lifecycle Engineering aspect for advanced cloud infrastructure solutions and the people that develop them.
AWS is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to be part of a global engineering team responsible for ownership and continuous improvement related to Mechanical (Cooling) infrastructure products within our rapidly expanding data center footprint.
Requirements: hands‑on Mechanical and Manufacturing experience of Mechanical (Cooling) products, experience leading product design of Mechanical products, understanding of Mechanical Systems, and knowledge of manufacturing quality.
As a Global Amazon Product Lifecycle Engineer, you will provide Mechanical infrastructure support to AWS data centers, collaborate with the product development team, and have engineering ownership of the product through its operational life. You will be a global ‘go‑to’ engineering resource for Mechanical AWS products deployed in data centers.
Amazon has a global presence. Intermittent travel will be required and should be expected to be around 30% (mostly domestic, some international).
Key Job Responsibilities
Possess strong engineering judgement and ability to provide recommendations despite uncertainty
Be detail and data oriented
Have experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or Mechanical Products
Review, update, and approve equipment submittals
Work with global mechanical equipment suppliers and manufacturers
Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g. reliability, operations, design, compliance)
Work on concurrent projects, in multiple geographic zones
Understand and explain complex systems in clear and concise language
Support Operations including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review for both mechanical and electrical issues
Listen to the voice of the customer to understand if there are improvements that can be made to increase product reliability or availability
Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to design product improvements, and to oversee root cause analysis
Contribute to our global body of knowledge and drive a cycle of continuous improvement at a global scale
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering
5+ years of project experience with cooling systems or components
Experience working on/developing validation/testing requirements
Experience working with specifications and product standards
Experience training/educating others on technical products and certs
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience developing Mechanical and/or Mechanical Cooling Products and launching them into production
Hands‑on experience trouble‑shooting mechanical components and systems

Salary range: USA, OH, Columbus – 116,800.00 - 160,000.00 USD annually; USA, VA, Herndon – 116,800.00 - 160,000.00 USD annually; USA, WA, Seattle – 116,800.00 - 160,000.00 USD annually.
