Main Function The Administrator is responsible for the administration, leadership, direction, and coordination of all financial related activities of the Surgery Center according to its policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives. Includes responsibility for all aspects of environmental control, personnel, materials and equipment, education of personnel, and human resources. May delegate some responsibilities and duties to both professional and non-professional personnel.

Demonstrates close attention to detail and strong organizational and leadership skills

Demonstrates cooperative work attitude toward employees, physicians and their office personnel, patients, visitors and contracted personnel

Must have a clear understanding of the business and financial management requirements of the Surgery Center

Must have a clear understanding of the requirements established by the PA DOH and Joint Commission

Must be committed to excellence in the nursing care and safety of patients

Duties and Responsibilities

Plans, controls, directs and coordinates all administrative duties for proper functioning of the Surgery Center, including personnel management

Determines policies and procedures in accordance with the Surgery Center’s mission and philosophy. Enforces and evaluates policy and procedures.

Provides assistance to supervisory personnel to develop performance standards, policies and procedures, job descriptions, and maintain regulatory compliance

Oversight of Human Resources, including the employee handbook, benefits, payroll, salary administration, personnel appraisals and 401K plan

Maintains Joint Commission Accreditation

Ensures all regulatory matters and licenses are current

Plans, directs and coordinates business and financial activities with the Board of Managers and the accountant

Oversees the operation of the business office, delegating day to day duties to the Office Manager. Develop appropriate internal controls with the accountant

Ensures payer contracts are current, in addition to addressing issues. Negotiate payer contracts with Network/Provider Representatives.

Perform month end reporting and audit A/R, Aging, and Revenues by payer

Develop a budget with the accountant, review quarterly

Reviews monthly financial statements with the bookkeeper and accountant if needed

Reviews daily cash report and transfer money as needed to the operating account

Determine timing of checks for accounts payable, review invoices, purchase orders for correct account codes and pricing. Sign all checks with the Medical Director as needed

Annually reviews insurance policies with our broker and Board of Managers

Plans, directs and coordinates all Quality Improvement activities

Develops the agenda for all meetings with QIRN

Reports QI activities to the Board of Managers, oversees implementation of Quality Improvement recommendations from the Medical Advisory Board and Board of Managers

Ensures all complaints or issues are addressed in a timely manner

Meets with the Medical Advisory Board and the Board of Managers Quarterly

Ex Officio member of the board

Writes and distributes minutes of all meetings

Qualifications

A minimum of two years administrative experience in a Surgery Center or other health care entity. Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting, budgeting and forecasting.

Good command of the English language, verbal and written

Proficient in Microsoft Office- (Word and Excel)
