Position Overview The Senior Director, Commercial Finance is a key finance leader at BBU, responsible for overseeing Customer & Category Finance. The position is the strategic partner to senior leaders in BBU’s Customer and Marketing teams to analyze commercial performance as well as develop sustainable growth strategies. The role reports directly to BBU’s CFO and manages a team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to own commercial finance in a large CPG. The position will work with the Customer and Category teams to strategize, plan and execute key growth strategies as well as provide visibility and insights to overall performance. The role will collaborate with multiple teams including Revenue Growth Management (RGM), Marketing, Sales, Innovation, Supply Chain, and other Finance teams.

What to Expect in This Role Customer Finance Leadership

Serve as the finance strategic partner to the Customer Leadership Team to shape customer strategies, joint business planning, and investments in growth

Strategically support customer joint business planning with RGM, Category Management, and Customers to generate value for BBU and our key Customers

Partner with Customer & RGM to execute pricing strategy, trade spend optimization, mix management, and margin improvement initiatives

Own modeling and evaluation of growth opportunities, including new customer initiatives, customer investment opportunities, and private label bids, to ensure commercial, operational, and financial feasibility

Partner with RGM to overhaul offline trade, improving how we track, review, and approve the offline trade budget

Create visibility to our total customer investment and our customer profit pool including total trade and shopper marketing

Build and maintain reporting to monitor and forecast customer performance, profitability, and other key performance metrics (i.e. Share) on a periodic basis to provide actionable insights

Deliver ad hoc analysis and reporting for Customers and RGM

Category & Brand Finance Leadership

Partner with Marketing SVP & Marketing Leads to shape financial strategies and business plans

Lead strategic planning for categories and brands, including annual and long-range (3-5 Year) financial forecasts

Build and evaluate business cases for growth including innovation, distribution strategies, brand strategies, and marketing investments to ensure commercial, operational, and financial feasibility

Collaborate with Marketing and Innovation teams to evaluate innovation, represent finance in innovation stage gate process, and assess post-launch performance

Coordinate with cross-functional teams to build and evaluate business cases for capital investments proposals that support growth initiatives

Develop and maintain periodic reporting for category/brand performance to provide meaningful and actionable insights

Provide periodic reporting and forecast to FP&A to help understand results and forecast BBU’s total P&L

Deliver ad hoc analysis and reporting for Category team

Team and Cross Functional Leader

Develop standard business case framework for growth initiatives to ensure they are evaluated holistically, consistently, effectively, and efficiently

Develop Category and Customer finance teams through coaching, hands‑on training, and career planning

Serve as finance business partner to SVP Marketing, Customers, RGM, and Innovation teams

Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, influencing strategic decisions

Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting, and analytics

Support development of presentations and content for executive leadership on a periodic basis

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

15+ years of progressive experience in commercial finance, category/brand finance, or customer finance within CPG or related industries.

Proven track record of partnering with Sales, Marketing, and RGM teams to drive business results.

Strong analytical skills, with expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and ROI analysis.

Experience with syndicated data (Circana/IRI/Nielsen), dashboarding, and data visualization.

Advanced proficiency in MS Office; experience with Hyperion Essbase, Oracle, or similar systems a plus.

Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence cross‑functional teams and senior leaders.

Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing high‑performing team

Strong sense of curiosity, continuous improvement mindset, and ability to simplify complex data.
