Job Description Due to the retirements of our Food Nutrition Directors at both Iowa Falls and Alden CSDs, we are looking for an individual to lead both programs.
Job Title:
Food Service Director
Reports To:
Superintendent
FLSA Status:
Exempt, 12-Month Position
Job Summary:
The Food Service Director leads the planning, preparation, and management of all school meal programs in accordance with USDA regulations and district wellness goals.
Responsibilities
Supervise all food service personnel across school buildings.
Plan menus that meet federal nutrition guidelines and student preferences.
Oversee purchasing, inventory, and food preparation processes.
Monitor and enforce food safety, sanitation, and allergen procedures.
Maintain compliance with USDA, state, and local health regulations.
Coordinate with SBO to prepare and manage the food service budget.
Train staff in food handling, portion control, and kitchen safety.
Submit reports for state and federal meal reimbursement.
Ensure special dietary needs are accommodated appropriately.
Supervise food service during special events, summer meals, and emergencies.
Conduct regular audits of kitchen procedures and cleanliness.
Communicate with parents and administration regarding food programs.
Manage staffing schedules and assist with hiring and evaluations.
Lead wellness initiatives that promote healthy eating habits.
Model and reinforce school behavior expectations and district professional expectations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications
Ability to be certified by the BOEE for the position.
Bachelor degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required
