The Life Enrichment Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive activities and engagement program that enhances residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual well-being. This role creates a vibrant community environment that promotes purpose, independence, and quality of life while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a diverse monthly activity calendar based on residents’ interests and abilities
Plan, coordinate, and lead group and individual activities, events, and outings
Assess resident interests and needs through interviews, surveys, and care plan participation
Collaborate with nursing, dietary, and other departments to support holistic resident care
Supervise, train, and schedule activity staff and volunteersn
Manage the life enrichment department budget and supplies
Coordinate entertainment, community partnerships, and special events
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and documentation standards
Maintain accurate activity records and participation tracking
Promote resident engagement and encourage family involvement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, or related field (preferred)
Activity Director Certification (as required by state regulations)
2+ years of experience in senior living, assisted living, or long-term care
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to plan creative, engaging programs for diverse resident populations
Compassionate, energetic, and resident-focused mindset
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and assist residents during activities
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Ability to transport residents safely (if required)
Work Environment
Primarily within an assisted living community setting
Occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays for special events
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21-$26/hour
