This role will oversee the alignment of maintenance and turnaround plans with commercial strategy and logistics readiness, evaluate alternative timing and asset availability through scenario modeling, and identify value‑chain constraints that guide strategic planning and investment sequencing. The Director will deliver mid‑term profitability outlooks, project and capital investment economics, and fully integrated value‑chain assessments that incorporate refining, logistics, commercial, and pricing impacts. The ideal candidate will also lead and develop high‑performing planning and optimization teams while advancing digital capabilities through PPIMS, XPIMS, DPO, and predictive analytics to strengthen forecasting accuracy, scenario precision, and enterprise value creation.This position supports the West region and is based in San Antonio, TX.**Key Responsibilities*** Leads development of mid‑term integrated material balances that align market scenarios, asset capabilities, logistics constraints, and value‑chain economics.* Produces enterprise‑relevant business plan inputs by translating strategy into volume targets, crude selection logic, production expectations, and margin guidance.* Synchronizes turnaround (TAR) and maintenance planning with commercial strategy, inventory resilience, and logistics readiness to maximize enterprise value.* Runs scenario‑based economic analysis to evaluate alternative maintenance timing, asset availability, and market conditions and identify value‑maximizing options.* Identifies and prioritizes value‑chain constraints through modeling and analysis, informing strategic planning, constraint‑removal initiatives, and investment sequencing.* Provides mid‑term profitability outlooks using LP and scenario models to support commercial planning, asset utilization, and margin optimization.* Develops project and capital investment economics by modeling volume, pricing, throughput, and logistics sensitivities under evolving market conditions.* Ensures enterprise‑wide value‑chain linkages in economic analysis by integrating refining, logistics, commercial, and pricing impacts into planning outputs.* Leads and develops planning, economics, and asset optimization teams, embedding model‑driven planning, governance, and learning loops across regions.* Advances digital and analytics capabilities by leveraging PPIMS, XPIMS, DPO, and predictive tools to improve forecasting accuracy, scenario precision, and investment prioritization.**Education and Experience*** Bachelor’s degree required.* Ten (10) years of experience in the oil and gas industry required, with five (5) years of experience in Economics & Planning or Commercial required.* Three (3) years of leadership experience, managing teams in planning, economics, or optimization functions required.**Skills*** Integrated Business Planning & Profitability - Develops mid-term integrated business plans that balance market opportunities, asset capabilities, and logistical constraints, translating strategies into crude selection logic, production expectations, and value chain targets* Business Acumen - Applies knowledge of MPC's business, industry and the marketplace to advance the organization's goals.
