Amazon MGM Studios is the movies and television development and production arm of Amazon. In service of Amazon's Prime Video customers globally, it is our role to produce and acquire content, including popular Originals such as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Boys, Fallout, The Summer I Turned Pretty, Saltburn, Road House, The Idea of You, and Red One. Within Amazon MGM Studios, we are seeking an experienced executive to lead the Streaming Movies Strategy team in Culver City, CA. This role partners directly with the Film Studio Chief and oversees content strategy for Global Original Movies on Prime Video, including overall slate planning and movie greenlights. The Head of Streaming Movies Strategy will lead a high-performing team of strategists and will work with department leaders across creative development, physical production, business affairs, finance, analytics, research, programming, and marketing. We are seeking a proven team leader who has a strong understanding of the movie business, excellent analytical skills, seasoned stakeholder management experience, and an ability to serve as a thought partner to senior leadership.
Key Job Responsibilities
Partner directly with the Film Studio Chief on overall strategic and business direction of Prime Video’s Global Original Movie program
Lead a high-performing team of strategists to solve business-critical issues related to Original Movies on Prime Video
Oversee and guide the team's evaluation of Original Movies being considered for greenlight, ensuring analytical rigor and strategic alignment with Prime Video's content goals
Direct the team's analysis of Prime Video viewership projections and financial risk/reward across different deal structures and release models, establishing frameworks and methodologies that drive consistent, high-quality decision support
Own strategy documents providing recommendations to senior leadership on content investments, slate strategy, and business planning
Build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with leaders across creative development, physical production, business affairs, finance, analytics, research, programming, and marketing teams across Amazon, ensuring the team operates as a trusted strategic partner across the studio
Drive partnership between movies and series teams to align on shared content planning goals and measurement frameworks
Mentor and develop a team of high-caliber strategists, fostering a culture of analytical excellence, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement; manage performance and career development for direct reports
Basic Qualifications
8+ years of experience in an analytically rigorous role (e.g., management consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, content strategy) with increasing levels of responsibility
Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams, and managing complex, cross-functional strategy initiatives from end-to-end
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analytical findings and strategic recommendations to VP-level and above audiences
Excellent analytical capabilities and experience using complex modeling and analysis to inform key business decisions
Strong understanding of the movie business
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or similar advanced degree
Prior experience in content strategy at a streaming service

The base salary range for this position is 144,700.00 - 253,300.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
