$175,000 - $190,000 / year

Description We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Vice President of Asset Management to provide enterprise-level leadership over Verus’s delinquent loan portfolio. This role carries end-to-end accountability for portfolio performance, with a focus on delinquency reduction, loss minimization, and cash flow optimization.

The portfolio consists of traditional residential non-QM loans and business purpose loans secured by 1 to 4 family residences which are serviced by several third-party sub-servicers. Asset management operates within financing and structural constraints that require disciplined oversight and independent judgment. Success in this role requires the ability to operate at both a strategic and analytical level, making complex decisions that balance risk, recovery, compliance, and long‑term portfolio outcomes.

The VP of Asset Management is a highly cross‑functional leader and trusted partner to executive leadership, responsible for setting direction, establishing frameworks, and ensuring consistent, scalable execution across asset management functions.

Responsibilities and Duties: Asset Oversight & Servicer Management

Provide leadership and direction to a team of Asset Managers, setting clear expectations for portfolio ownership, decision‑making, and execution quality. ·

Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing asset management team through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.

Lead asset management strategy across servicing functions including Customer Engagement, Loss Mitigation, Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, REO, and Litigation.

Oversee third‑party sub‑servicers to ensure portfolio performance objectives are achieved, including delinquency reduction, loss minimization, and cash flow optimization.

Analyze portfolio trends and performance drivers; partner with sub‑servicers to identify interventions that optimize outcomes and reduce risk.

Establish clear decision rights, escalation frameworks, and accountability models across asset management activities.

Oversee performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting to guide asset‑level and portfolio‑level decisions.

Apply analytical rigor and sound judgment to complex asset decisions, including scenario evaluation and trade‑off analysis.

Continuously evaluate asset management and servicing processes to identify inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Implement scalable approaches that improve execution consistency, reduce volatility, and support long‑term portfolio performance.

Identify servicing, operational, and compliance risks and implement durable solutions.

Maintain and govern delegation authority matrices and loss mitigation waterfalls to ensure consistency and compliance.

Partner closely with executive leadership to present portfolio insights, risks, and strategic recommendations.

Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Capital Markets, Servicing Operations, and other internal stakeholders to align asset management strategy with broader business objectives.

Translate complex data and portfolio dynamics into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leaders.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

10+ years of experience in asset management, servicing oversight, or related disciplines.

Demonstrated experience managing and influencing third‑party servicers.

Proven people leadership experience, including leading and developing teams.

Advanced Excel proficiency; SQL or similar data tools strongly preferred.

Cross‑Functional Influence:

Partners seamlessly with executive leadership, Legal, Finance, Capital Markets, and Operations to align asset management strategy with enterprise objectives.
