This is a desk focused position located in Sentry’s Stevens Point, WI; Edwardsville, IL; Madison, WI; Nashville, TN; or Charlotte, NC office locations under a hybrid work model.

What You’ll Do:
Verify coverages and perform coverage investigations by gathering pertinent information
Investigate losses and negotiate claims settlements with claimants and their legal representative within assigned authority limits
Manage investigative process by taking recorded statements, obtaining investigative reports, evaluating damages or eligibility for benefits, and determining legal responsibility
Prepare and present claims for discussion among the commercial claim leadership team as part of Sentry’s collaborative escalation process
Maintain accurate documentation of investigative facts and decisions that occur during the investigation, evaluation, or resolution processes.
Assist the claims team with training and providing technical claims knowledge
What it Takes:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
5+ years of related work experience, property claim field experience highly preferred
Through knowledge of insurance policies and coverages, claim payment procedures, insurance regulations, and familiarity with legal terminology
Previous insurance experience and/or coursework
Possess strong analytical abilities to review, exercise judgement, and evaluate claims to make sound decisions
Ability to review and interpret complex and detailed documents such as contracts, estimates, and insurance regulations
Effective oral and written communication skills and human relations skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to pass required coursework applicable to job duties
Ability to meet the travel requirements of the job to include business related assignments, with limited notice. This may include being away for multiple weeks, as business needs arise such as after a catastrophic storm event. Travel may include driving, flying or any other necessary form of transportation.
