WHAT YOU'LL DO We’re looking for an experienced Senior UI/UX Designer with a deep understanding of automotive HMI, in‑vehicle interfaces, and safety‑critical user experience. In this role, you will design intuitive, distraction‑minimized digital experiences that operate across the vehicle’s cockpit — ensuring usability, clarity, and safety.

Design end‑to‑end experiences across the full HMI ecosystem, including instrument clusters, infotainment displays, head‑up displays, steering‑wheel controls, and in‑car assistants. Modern vehicles operate as “digital cockpits,” requiring seamless integration across multiple surfaces.

Balance engagement with safety by designing interactions that minimize driver distraction. Automotive interfaces must keep drivers’ eyes on the road and rely on simplified layouts, large touch targets, and reduced cognitive load — unlike typical mobile or web design.

Design for multi‑modal interactions (touch, voice, gesture, physical controls, eye‑tracking) and create experiences that remain functional under motion, vibration, and varying lighting conditions.

Support autonomous and semi‑autonomous driving UX, including clear communication during control handovers, system state changes, warnings, and driver‑monitoring scenarios — a documented challenge in modern automotive UX.

Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, and visual designs aligned with the vehicle’s driving context and ergonomic constraints.

Apply and evolve automotive design systems across multiple markets, trims, and hardware configurations — ensuring consistency and scalability across global vehicle programs.

Conduct user research, usability testing, and HMI evaluations to validate safety, clarity, and usability, in line with automotive HMI guidelines and regulations.

Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, ADAS teams, and vehicle architects to ensure feasible implementation and adherence to performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Contribute to innovation topics including AR HUDs, connected‑vehicle features, voice assistants, and digital ecosystems — all critical trends shaping the future of automotive UX/UI design

WHO YOU ARE You are a strategic designer who understands how to build safe, intuitive, emotionally resonant digital experiences inside a highly technical and regulated environment.

You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interaction Design, UX Design, Human–Computer Interaction, Digital Media, Product Design, Transportation/Automotive UX, or a related field.

Extensive experience in UI/UX Design for automotive, mobility, HMI systems, connected vehicles, or similarly complex environments.

Strong portfolio showcasing projects related to HMI, infotainment, clusters, ADAS UX, digital cockpit experiences, or mobility services.

Deep understanding of automotive UX constraints such as driver distraction, ergonomics, safety‑critical flows, and compliance with industry guidelines (e.g., HMI regulations).

Proficiency in Figma, Adobe CC, and other prototyping tools; experience with motion design and embedded constraints is a plus.

Experience designing multi-modal interfaces (voice, gesture, touch), which reflect key trends in modern automotive HMI systems.

Ability to translate user research and behavioral insights into context‑aware, adaptive UX concepts, reflecting findings that automotive UX must adapt to diverse user groups and scenarios.

Strong skills in presenting design rationale, aligning stakeholders, and working in agile, cross‑functional automotive development cycles.

Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript is beneficial to collaborate with engineering teams, though not mandatory.

Certificates such as SAFe PO/PM, Scrum Master, or other agile certifications are a plus.

Excellent communication skills—confident presenting ideas and partnering with cross‑functional stakeholders.

Creative problem‑solver with a strong eye for detail and a user‑first mindset.

Strong English communication skills; German is a plus.

You are comfortable with extensive travel (up to 100% of your working time), typically Monday through Friday, depending on client and project needs.)

You are legally authorized to work in the U.S.
