Digital Architect - Domain R&D (m/w/d) (Groot-Bijgaarden, Belgium)

Your Mission Digital transformation is changing our customers’ and employees’ expectations of their digital interactions. The mission is to design innovative end‑to‑end digital experiences for employees and/or customers that enable actionable data insights. The digital experience architect works in partnership with Business and ICT teams and should have a variety of functional and technical skills.

What you will do The Digital Architect is a

change agent : Able to “walk a mile in the user’s/customer’s shoes” and help drive organizational change. She/he understands the user/customer journey & ensures alignment of future digital solutions with the strategic business objectives. The digital experience architect builds the IT roadmap for their respective domain by connecting strategy/investments to outcomes.

The Digital Architect is an

innovator : She/he is creating an approach for thinking about work in novel, transformative ways with the use of digital technologies. She/he organizes and participates in POCs in accordance to the innovation funnel approved priorities. She/He applies agile principles to adjust to the evolving needs of the business and the customers.

The Digital Architect is a

facilitator : The experience architect brings people together across teams and business lines to forge consensus and promote a culture of collaboration relating to digital solutions.

The Digital Architect maps the ICT solutions portfolio for their domain with focus on data and process dependencies between the application landscape. She/he aligns with other architects for the cross-domain integration and redesigns the relevant digital processes from an automation/efficiency perspective with focus on business value, future proofness, data insights, risk management and costs optimization. This effort is evolutionary in nature and includes decision making about replacing, upgrading, introducing new technology (e.g. Agentic AI) or retiring ICT applications.

The Digital Architect

guides the projects teams

during the implementation phase as and when required. She/he is in regular contact with the project teams. She/He provides input to project managers and other staff members to develop budgets and timelines for solution roll outs. The Digital Architect can occasionally play to the role of the Project Manager especially for pilot projects or for highly complex projects.

The Digital Architect

aligns with the Support and Service team

to provide input for the ongoing

governance

of the digital solutions after the implementation phase.

The Digital Architect works in synergy with the Business Intelligence Team and Data Science team to ensure measurable business outcomes (descriptive/predictive/prescriptive analytics) as part of the end‑to‑end solution design and implementation.

The Digital Architect collaborates with the Infrastructure Team for all aspects relating to the security footprint of the designed solution.

The Digital Architect collaborates with the Integration Team as well as other technical ICT experts to ensure smooth encapsulation of the future ICT solutions to the current landscape.

The Digital Architect is proving budget input for both CAPEX and OPEX to relevant ICT Managers (Budget Owners) and to the Project Managers. For specific projects and initiatives the Digital Architect will play the role of the Budget Owner.

Position Requirements

Experience in product lifecycle management in the process industries

Recipe based production

Traceability/Regulatory/Product Safety

Systems Integration Experience (API etc)

Experience in any of the following is a plus

SAP S/4HANA (or other ERP: BOMs, Materials, etc)

SAP PLM – SAP QM

LIMS

Automation (RPA and/or Agentic AI)

Low code (Outsystems)

BI (PowerBI)

Vision/Strategy/Innovation

Change Management

Functional skills within the domain of responsibility

Communication & Collaboration skills

Project Management/ Agile/Scrum/Kanban

Analytical skills, both detail and helicopter view

Application development experience is a plus

Open mindset with emphasis on knowledge sharing

Ability to work independent as part of a team

Flexible and stress resistant

Fluent in English (spoken and written), additional languages are an asset

10+ years of ICT experience
