Job Description The Senior Pricing Manager in the Cold Chain brokerage team in developing and implementing a strategic pricing strategy and performing analytics on current and prospective clients related to drayage, FTL, & LTL pricing, network optimization, carrier mix, time in transit, and ad hoc reporting requests. The Cold Chain Senior Pricing & Carrier Specialist will also assist with preparing client RFPs and reports to measure KPIs and conduct detailed analytical work on General Rate Increases. The Senior Pricing Manager requires advanced Excel knowledge, data analytics capabilities, phone and email interaction with operations and sales management, and client services.
Functions
Develop and implement market competitive drayage, FTL, & LTL pricing proposals for new and existing clients according to overall company strategies
Conduct an analysis of lane history to determine target markets. Collaborate with existing carriers to identify backhaul opportunities, allowing us to offer competitive pricing. Additionally, compare carrier rates with market analytics
Analyze shipping data to predict and report on revenue, cost, and margin trends
Query multiple data sources to aggregate data for reporting and analysis
Optimize pricing based on market conditions, client needs, and shipping profile
Work with internal teams to develop company pricing strategies
Develop business proposals and bid responses to support sales presentations
Monitor pricing rates to ensure accuracy with negotiated contracts
Strategically expand our reefer carrier network to enhance pricing competitiveness. This involves identifying carriers across various modes, including specialized commodities such as pharmaceuticals and ice cream. Additionally, onboard carriers to provide our brokers with increased options for lane operations
Other duties as assigned that support the sales, management, and operations teams
Engage in travel to personally meet key carriers, fostering face-to-face interactions to strengthen partnerships.
Demonstrate a high level of industry knowledge to make informed decisions pertaining to the carrier base.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
Previous experience in drayage, FTL, & LTL pricing is preferred.
Critical thinking and the ability to make quick business decisions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with other data evaluation tools.
The capacity to work independently and self-sufficiently, without direct and constant supervision
Preferred: Experience in the Cold Chain field & pricing strategy
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Team-oriented mentality with the ability to lead and achieve set goals.
Desire to thrive in a fun and fast-paced environment, coupled with a capacity and eagerness to learn.
Strong understanding of how to collect and analyze statistical data as well as the ability to differentiate good data from bad data
Domestic travel is expected.
