Director of Sales Development Specialty Infusion Services
External Job Description | Startup Home Infusion Company (Texas)
About the Opportunity We are a startup infusion provider launching in the DFW area and expanding specialty infusion services across Texas. Our platform supports complex therapies delivered in the home and alternate sites-of-care.
As we grow, we are seeking a motivated, high-capacity growth leader to help build and execute our market expansion strategy. This individual will work closely with executive leadership and external specialty consultants to develop referral relationships, support payer access initiatives, and strengthen manufacturer partnerships across all infusion service lines.
This is a hands‑on, build‑stage role within a rapidly evolving healthcare startup.
Role Summary The Director of Sales Development will play a foundational role in shaping the company’s growth trajectory. This position requires strong relationship‑building skills, business discipline, and the ability to execute structured growth initiatives across provider partnerships, managed care collaboration, and specialty trade relationships.
While not a traditional territory sales role, this position will be highly operational and execution‑focused, partnering closely with leadership to drive measurable referral and revenue growth.
Current focus is high‑cost biologics and infusion therapies. The organization anticipates potential future expansion into sterile compounding services, and the Director will support market development strategy as additional service lines are introduced.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and grow referral partnerships with hospitals, health systems, physician practices, and care coordination teams.
Build strategic relationships with infectious disease, rheumatology, gastroenterology, oncology, neurology, and other specialty providers.
Navigate hospital case management, discharge planning, and health system decision‑makers to increase referral conversion.
Support managed care contracting efforts, including payer discussions, rate modeling, and network positioning.
Establish and strengthen pharmaceutical manufacturer and distributor relationships, including trade agreements and product access.
Collaborate closely with operations and clinical leadership to ensure scalable, compliant growth aligned with service capacity.
Develop market mapping, CRM workflows, KPI dashboards, and structured reporting for leadership.
Represent the organization professionally in payer, provider, and industry partner meetings.
Develop go‑to‑market strategies for current specialty and infusion services and support expansion planning for additional service lines, including potential sterile compounding offerings.
Educate referral sources on evolving service capabilities as the pharmacy platform grows.
Required Qualifications
Experience in healthcare sales development, healthcare operations, business development, or related post‑acute services (home infusion, specialty pharmacy, home health, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and contribute to measurable growth.
Foundational understanding of healthcare reimbursement frameworks including HCPCS/J‑codes, buy‑and‑bill vs. pharmacy benefit, and prior authorization processes (or strong willingness to develop expertise quickly).
Exposure to managed care, payer collaboration, or network development.
Working knowledge of distribution, trade agreements, specialty product access models, or willingness to learn.
Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret data and articulate value propositions.
Preferred Experience
Cross‑functional experience collaborating with clinical and operational leadership.
Experience in infusion, specialty pharmacy, or post‑acute healthcare environments.
Exposure to startup or high‑growth healthcare organizations.
Established relationships within Texas healthcare markets.
Experience collaborating cross‑functionally with clinical and operational teams.
Experience marketing sterile compounding, home infusion, or complex infusion therapy services preferred.
Success Profile The ideal candidate is:
A builder with a startup mindset and comfort operating in a developing platform.
Strategic yet hands‑on — able to roll up sleeves and execute while contributing to scalable systems.
Data‑driven, organized, and accountable to measurable growth outcomes.
Resilient, ethical, and highly collaborative across teams.
Motivated to grow into expanded strategic responsibility over time.
Compensation & Structure This role offers a competitive base salary with a performance‑based bonus structure tied to:
Referral volume growth
Net revenue expansion
New payer contracts secured
Trade and manufacturer partnerships established
Title and scope align with a Director‑level growth position within a startup healthcare environment more than a traditional commission‑only sales representative.
Location Texas‑based (Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio area preferred) with regional travel required.
