The Team We are currently growing our Gobal Tax Incentives (GTI) practice. A&M’s GTI team helps identify overlooked opportunity areas across a range of industries where qualified credit activities exist and provides the tools needed to complete the complicated credit calculation. Our team of professionals assists clients in preparing and preserving the documentation required to support qualifying activities and departments. We are presently seeking a Director to join our national practice.

How you will contribute As a Director within GTI, you will:

Work with multi-disciplinary teams to conduct research and development (R&D) tax credit consulting services, including leading interviews with client subject matter experts, writing technical memorandum, performing tax technical research, and developing quantitative workpapers supporting amounts claimed

Assistance on federal tax consulting services, including meals and entertainment, accounting method assessments, energy incentives, and meals and entertainment deductions

Communicate directly with client personnel, including operations, finance, accounting, and engineering

Manage and implement multiple projects simultaneously, which include client interviews, computations, analysis, data gathering and coordination of A&M and client resources

Assist with tax research, responses to IRS inquiries, drafting IRS protest letters, and writing other technical memoranda as needed.

Flexibility to travel to client sites 25% of the time

Manage risk, resources, staffing and financial performance for multiple engagements at once including billing, collections and project budgets

Identify key tax issues and accurately quantify the impact to in a clear, concise, and thoughtful analysis

Build client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businesses

Conduct day-to-day management of accounts to ensure delivery of timely and accurate work product

Supervise, develop, mentor, and motivate our Associates, Senior Associates and Managers by actively participating in their advancement through on-the-job training, providing performance feedback, counseling, and fostering our team-based atmosphere

Manage workload and deadlines for Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers with a focus on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the project teams

Demonstrate commitment and desired behaviors while working with others that have diverse experiences, skills and perspectives

Regularly supports business development efforts including seeing opportunities for add on work, thought leadership, new client pitches, and optimizing the compliance process

Qualifications

4-6+ years of experience working on Research and Development Tax Credit engagements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a STEM discipline

Advanced Degree preferred: MA/MS, JD or LLM

CPA or Licensed Attorney, or applicable certification required

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate complex information and to establish credibility and influence clients

Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills

Advanced user of all Microsoft Office products (with an emphasis on Excel and high proficiency in spreadsheets)

Ability to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlines

High motivation to learn and grow and actively identify trends and new ideas for enhancing solutions and approaches

Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills to excel in a deadline-driven environment

Prior proven experience leading others while managing multiple work streams

Demonstrated success as a trusted tax and business advisor: building relationships, identifying and addressing client needs, and delivering high quality deliverables

Passion for training and mentoring staff

Thesalaryrange is $130,000- $175,000annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
