The Role: Designer
Bestor Architecture’s Designer is part of a collaborative team of architects and designers. This person will contribute expertise throughout all phases of project development—from schematic design to construction administration.
We are seeking candidates to fill two available positions: One for candidates with residential experience and the other with Strong institutional and commercial experience.
WHO WE ARE Bestor Architecture is an award-winning studio recognized for architecture that engages the city through design, art, and urbanism. Founded by Barbara Bestor, FAIA, in 1995, the studio is currently designing cultural projects including an art museum, a synagogue and a community center as well as many ground up architectural houses and complex restorations of modern architectural landmarks.
WHAT YOU'LL DO (Duties and Responsibilities) Design/Project Management
Collaborate with the team to design and execute multiple projects simultaneously, from concept through completion, and potentially lead smaller residential and commercial projects.
Work closely with the project team, consultants, contractors, and agency officials.
Produce presentation drawings, physical models, diagrams, and renderings using Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape, Rhino, V-Ray, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Assist Senior Designers/Project Managers with project management tasks to ensure client satisfaction, service quality, and financial performance.
Help Senior Designers/Project Managers establish and monitor project budgets and schedules.
Research materials, products, and building systems throughout the design and construction phases, staying up to date with architectural advancements and trends.
In coordination with consultants, produce a full set of construction/working drawings.
Participate in client and consultant coordination on larger projects and serve as the primary client and consultant contact for smaller projects.
Ensure all contractual requirements for professional services are met on smaller projects.
Leadership
Provide informal feedback and some guidance to Junior Designers and Interns; serve as a mentor, resource, and guide.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING/WHO YOU ARE (Qualifications)
A professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch. or M.Arch.) from an accredited institution.
3-5 years of experience in progressive, design-focused firms.
Extensive experience in one or more of these areas: commercial, residential, and/or institutional projects.
Licensure candidacy preferred.
Exceptional design sense with strong graphic and technical skills (e.g., fluency in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, V-Ray, physical model-making, and Adobe Creative Suite).
Motivated, independent, flexible, and cooperative problem solver with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills.
Capable of taking direction and initiative with minimal supervision.
Authorization to work in the U.S.
