Purchasing Manager
with proven, hands-on experience leading and developing procurement teams. This is a true people leadership role —
prior direct management of buyers is required.
You will be responsible for setting expectations, driving accountability, coaching performance, and building a high-performing team while overseeing purchasing execution from planning through delivery. Success in this role requires a leader who can develop talent, make sound sourcing decisions, and ensure alignment with project timelines, cost objectives, and long-term supplier partnerships. What You'll Do Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Buyers to achieve performance, delivery, and cost objectives.
Develop and execute purchasing plans aligned with project schedules, budgets, and engineering specifications.
Drive strategic sourcing initiatives to reduce cost, improve reliability, and minimize supply risk.
Oversee supplier selection and contract administration with a focus on quality, pricing, and on-time delivery.
Partner with logistics, inventory, and project teams to support just-in-time delivery and efficient inventory turnover.
Proactively resolve supplier performance issues and implement corrective actions to avoid project disruptions.
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, contractual requirements, and industry safety standards.
Track and report procurement KPIs; identify continuous improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
What You'll Bring Experience
5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing or procurement.
Demonstrated people leadership experience; leading buyer teams and building strong supplier partnerships.
Experience supporting energy, utility, high-voltage, or EPC projects strongly preferred.
Proficiency with ERP systems (JDE or similar) and procurement platforms.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, project management, and field operations.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
