Director of Development Job Description At our core, we are dedicated to inspiring, educating and supporting entrepreneurs and organizations in their mission to combat poverty. We champion locally owned, managed, and self-funded programs. These initiatives elevate communities, inspire job creation, strengthen the local church, and reinforce a culture of giving back. We are a young non-profit seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as the donor development and fundraising director. This full-time role is critical in designing and implementing a development strategy from the ground up: establishing strong fundraising systems, cultivating major donor relationships, and guiding us from startup phase to securing $750,000+ annually within 3–5 years. The ideal candidate brings proven experience in scaling non-profit revenue, a robust network ("rolodex") they can actively leverage, and a track record of designing and executing successful fundraising strategies. We’re looking for someone who can both think strategically and execute tactically, helping us build a sustainable foundation for long-term growth while passionately advancing our faith-based mission. 15+ years of experience in fundraising and donor relations Demonstrated success in both high-dollar donor cultivation and broad-based campaigns Deep understanding of donor stewardship as ministry, with alignment to Christian values Creative and strategic thinker with a strong ability to craft compelling donor messaging and fundraising materials that advance and amplify our mission Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft messages that inspire and resonate High EQ & relational intelligence - reading people well, building trust, and aligning giving opportunities with donor passions Confident in the ask - skilled at making direct, inspiring, and appropriately timed solicitations Proficiency with donor management systems and/or CRM platforms Experience with professional software (Microsoft Office Suite, email programs, Adobe, etc.) Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects with minimal supervision Alignment with our faith-based mission and values Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team Desire to build relationships with groups and individuals interested in our work Will require some travel with advance notice (to be discussed further) Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Strategy

Drive strategy development and execution of fundraising campaigns, including annual appeals, events, and special initiatives that meet the TFC Strategic Plan. Aligning major, mid-level, and micro donor fundraising with the vision and budget needs. Coordinate fundraising events, including logistics, outreach, and follow-up communications. Meet quarterly fundraising targets as outlined in the TFC Strategic Plan. This will be measured quarterly by the number of new donors, donor funds received quarterly in comparison to the defined quarterly targets and the % of total budget covered by donor funds. Budget & forecasting - projecting donation revenue and tracking progress to goals. Identify and research potential funding opportunities, including grants and individual donor prospects. Lead the creation of donor-focused materials, such as case statements, proposals, and thank-you letters. Donor Management

Portfolio management discipline - organizing, tracking, and personally cultivating relationships with the top donors. Strategic stewardship - creating custom engagement plans for each major donor, with clear next steps, impact reporting, and involvement opportunities. Build and maintain relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors. Manage donor records and update the donor database to ensure accurate tracking of contributions and engagement. Develop and execute donor appreciation and retention strategies, including personalized communication and recognition. Provide regular reports on donor engagement, fundraising progress, and goals. Major Donor Leadership

Personally manage and cultivate relationships with the top donors. Develop individualized stewardship and solicitation plans for each major donor. Conduct regular in-person and virtual meetings, impact tours, and tailored updates. Oversee planning and execution of major donor fundraising event(s). Donor Growth

Develop tailored cultivation strategies for donors at various levels of giving ($100 to $1,000 to $10,000) Collaborate with marketing to develop multi-channel campaigns (direct mail, email, social media, digital ads, SMS) Cross-Functional Leadership

Collaborate with program staff, volunteers, and board members to gather information and coordinate materials that accurately reflect the organization’s work. Understanding how SEO, social ads, and email automation support giving. Using KPIs like donor retention rate, average gift size, and donor lifetime value to guide strategy. Provide guidance and support to staff and volunteers on fundraising-related and donor-related activities. Key Skill Set

T FC resources are provided to support our organization. Unless otherwise agreed upon, the person in this position will provide all other resources. Travel expense reimbursement beyond day-to-day commute (and/or beyond a certain mileage range). Business expense reimbursement according to our permitted expense policy. Relevant software including: license to Customer Relationship Management software, TFC email address/account, Google Workspace (or Office productivity) software license, Marketing/Graphic Design software/license, shared license to video conference account, access to cloud storage for files. TFC credit card for permitted expenses (according to our policy document).
