Evening Shift Position Description
MercyOne Northeast Iowa provides expert health care to eight counties with more than 2,500 colleagues and 491 licensed beds across three medical centers. The network offers 24-hour emergency lifesaving care and a variety of clinics in Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Benton, Butler, Fayette and Tama counties. MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center is an Area Level III Trauma Center and an accredited chest pain center; MercyOne Cedar Falls Medical Center is a Community Level IV Trauma Designation; MercyOne Oelwein Medical Center is a Community Level IV Trauma Designation. Join the MercyOne Waterloo Family. We are looking to hire an Emergency Department Representative I. This role provides patient-focused customer service and performs outpatient and/or inpatient registration and insurance verification functions; collects patient financial liability payments and ensures that patients meet financial requirements including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre-certifications and referrals. Provides general information to hospital users, patients, families and physician offices. Responsibilities
Be responsible for coordinating all patient registration activities including greeting patients/families, processing patient registration in an efficient and courteous manner, obtaining accurate patient demographics and insurance information, pre-registering patients, contacting precertification agencies when appropriate, obtaining all necessary consents and serving as the initial point of contact for patients coming into MercyOne Waterloo Register patients who present to the ED for ED services Register patients who present to the hospital for ancillary testing, outpatient procedures or hospital admission Verify insurance benefits Collect appropriate deposits and co-payments for services and making referrals to the Insurance Verification team as needed Provide admitting documentation for ED patients to medics and clinical staff and discuss payment arrangements with patients when appropriate All tasks must be completed in compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, CMS and JCAHO guidelines and regulation Schedule
Part Time 20 hrs a week, 2nd shift, every other weekend, 3 holiday rotations a year General Requirements
No experience required Medical Terminology; CHART; computer knowledge and strong computer/ keyboard skills Education
