What You Will Be Doing The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is looking for a motivated, organized, innovative individual to join our team as a Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative (MVCSR2). The candidate will thrive in a fast‑paced environment, examining documentation presented for required information and validity to ensure proper credential issuance or vehicle information. The MVCSR2 will enter direct interaction with the public, often explaining policies, statutes and regulations, and administering road examinations for non‑commercial, commercial, and motorcycle licenses.

The Working Environment You Can Expect The position is located at the Juneau DMV, 2760 Sherwood Lane Suite B. The MVCSR 2 will be assigned to a workstation in the public‑service lobby and will typically rotate weekly between processing customers in the lobby and administering road exams based on business needs. Hours are 08:30 – 17:00 Monday through Friday with possible overtime opportunities.

performs computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division correctly; solves practical problems by choosing appropriately from a variety of mathematical techniques such as formulas and percentages.

works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Computer Skills:
uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
Self‑Management:
sets well‑defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment toward completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.
Experience and Qualifications Six months of experience licensing, titling, and registering motor vehicles, maintaining driver records, collecting motor vehicle registration taxes, and processing license actions required by traffic laws, financial responsibility and mandatory insurance laws, and judicial suspensions or revocations. This experience is met by service as a Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 1 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Six months of employment experience as a driving instructor teaching the safe operation of motor vehicles, which included riding with trainees during practice in common traffic situations.
OR
One year of employment experience performing advanced clerical duties that included significant contact with the public to provide information and assistance concerning the services offered; explaining regulations and varying procedures for different situations; maintaining computerized records; and some purchasing, accounting, or cash handling tasks.
Substitution: Postsecondary education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience. (Three semester hours or four quarter hours equal one month.)
Special Note A background check of criminal justice information will be conducted upon initial employment.
Possession of a valid Alaska non‑commercial driver license is required.
