What you’ll do: At SCA, you’ll play a key role in driving our mission to keep communities clean and safe across the country. As a Sales Manager – Construction, you’ll help support our dedicated field teams and deliver critical services that make a visible impact every day. Whether you’re leading people, optimizing processes, or providing essential support, your work will contribute directly to our success—and to the communities we proudly serve. Your daily impact: The job responsibilities below outline the core duties and expectations of a position, providing clarity on how the role supports Company goals. However, as business needs evolve, these responsibilities may shift over time to reflect new priorities, processes, or technologies: Business Development:
Identify, target, and secure new business with construction companies, milling/paving contractors, aggregate facilities, and site development firms. Pricing Strategy:
Develop pricing strategies and prepare quotes based on project scope, project complexity, and current market conditions. High-Volume Opportunities:
Pursue large-scale and repeat opportunities, including multi-phase developments, plants and quarries, milling and paving projects, and general contractors. Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and Procurement Managers. Pre-Construction Engagement:
Participate in job walks, bid reviews, and pre-construction meetings to support accurate scoping and competitive bids. Operational Communication:
Clearly communicate job details to internal teams to ensure alignment on scope, safety requirements, and execution expectations. Market Intelligence:
Track local construction pipelines and private development activity to identify upcoming opportunities. Competitive Analysis:
Monitor competitor offerings, pricing, and service coverage to inform positioning and sales strategy. Growth Strategy:
Recommend strategic service expansions and new market opportunities based on customer demand and market trends. Minimum job qualifications define the essential skills, experience, and abilities needed to succeed in the role. College Degree Experience:
3+ years’ experience with Construction sales – milling/paving contractors, aggregates, or civil construction firms preferred RFP & Contract Management:
Experience managing RFP/RFQ responses, proposal development, and contract negotiations. Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in Microsoft suite and with CRM tools. Skills and competencies define the abilities and behaviors essential for success in the role. They guide performance expectations and may evolve as the role, team, or business priorities change: Sales Performance & Construction Expertise:
Proven track record of achieving revenue targets with construction companies; strong knowledge of procurement processes, bid lifecycles, and cooperative purchasing. Communication & Influence:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive presentations and proposal writing. Core Sales Competencies:
Construction relationship building; strategic territory planning; consultative selling; proposal and RFP development; cross-functional teamwork; and market and regulatory awareness.
