smartdept. is searching for a Social Campaign Designer for a nonprofit advocacy organization client. The ideal candidate will come with 3+ years of experience in social design and copywriting. This is a project-based, fully remote, contract opportunity. The Social Campaign Designer will serve as a creative partner supporting social and direct response campaigns. The ideal candidate is a strong conceptual thinker who can lead creative ideation and develop compelling campaign-ready assets across social media platforms. This role will focus on developing the creative vision and core assets, including messaging, visual direction, and social content, while partnering with an external direct response agency responsible for execution. The right candidate brings both strong design craft and confident copywriting skills, with the ability to elevate campaign quality and performance through thoughtful, strategic creative. What You’ll Do

Lead creative ideation for social media and direct response campaigns Develop campaign concepts, visual direction, and messaging frameworks Write compelling, performance-driven copy for paid and organic social Design vector-based graphics and create engaging social-first visuals Develop short-form social video concepts and storyboards Produce polished creative assets ready for agency execution Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure creative aligns with brand voice and organizational mission Collaborate with an external direct response agency, providing creative guidance and feedback Ensure campaign creative is platform-optimized and audience-focused Contribute strategic thinking to improve engagement, response, and overall campaign effectiveness What You’ll Need

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of experience in graphic design with copywriting experience Portfolio showcasing social campaigns, concept development, and performance-oriented creative Nice-to-Have Skills: Experience supporting nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven organizations Strong understanding of paid social best practices and direct response creative Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro or After Effects) Experience developing creative for multi-platform social campaigns (Meta, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.) Ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling, and engaging creative Strong communication skills and comfort presenting creative concepts to stakeholders
