
Designer – Wisconsin
IVI, Inc., Madison, WI, United States
This position is responsible for completing project designs and detailed drawings as well as BOM’s within the planned time schedule and within customer guidelines as required. Designer must be able to interpret complex engineering specifications and apply those specifications to the design of components and sub-assemblies using sound design principles, creative and independent judgment. Designer works in team environment under the direction of Design Manager and Lead Designer.
Education Requirements REQUIRED EDUCATION
Currently pursuing Associate’s degree in Mechanical Design or has equivalent work experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION
Associate’s degree in Mechanical Design or has equivalent work experience.
Experience Requirements
Basic understanding of fabrication processes and capabilities is a plus.
Strongly recommend 3-5 years of mechanical experience.
Skills
Demonstrated proficiency with SolidWorks software
Familiarity with AutoCAD and other Autodesk products
Competent with PDM
Ability to work under strict deadlines and manage time
Strong attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization
Ability to work with a diverse set of personalities

Seek information to complete assigned tasks
Professionally communicate with Design Manager and Lead Designer to gather the necessary information needed to generate and/or make changes/adjustments to drawings
Appropriately manage time and report any adverse progress to the completion of tasks to the Design Manager and/or Lead Designer
Accurately assess equipment specifications for drawings
Generate detailed drawings as directed by Design Manager and/or Lead Designers while following all procedures and company standards
Accurately and efficiently generate shop drawings
Confer with Design Manager or Lead Designer on changes and adjustments to drawings
Responsible for the creation of accurate BOM’s
Travel to customer sites as projects require which may include field verifications and/or design review meetings
