QUALIFICATIONS

Certified staff member or high school diploma or equivalent.

Successfully complete KSHSAA Rule 10 Classes if not a certified staff member.

Demonstrates interest in working with children and youth.

Ability to demonstrate an understanding, patient, warm and receptive attitude toward children and youth.

Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the general public.

Documented information to indicate aptitude & knowledge for the work/sport to be performed.

Completes CPR/AED/First Aid training and district training videos, if required.

Occasionally requires moving, lifting, carrying, pulling or pushing heavy to very heavy work objects or materials. Heavy workload is exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Meets other requirements set forth by local policies.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Building Principal and/or Athletic or Activities Director

JOB GOAL To teach the fundamentals and skills needed to assist the student to improve on an individual basis in each sport, activity, or student organization offered by the district. To help provide a well-organized, smooth-functioning, environment in which students can take full advantage of the district’s extracurricular programs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Professionalism and Administrative Duties

Has full responsibility for the overall supervision of his/her program.

Is in charge of assignments and duties of assistant coaches, sponsors, or directors (if applicable) working in his/her program, including time cards for payment. Completes assistant evaluations within one week of the completion of the season or term and provides the evaluation to the supervisor.

Is responsible for successfully passing KSHSAA rules test, following all KSHSAA guidelines as a program, and attending all required KSHSAA meetings, as needed by sport/activity.

Reports as required by the supervisor in regard to the developments of his/her program.

Conducts parent meetings as required or approved by the supervisor to explain rules, policies and the way communication is to take place within the program. Creates a program handbook as required, pre approved by the supervisor, to be distributed at this parent meeting which includes policies, procedures, and a schedule for the activity or sport.

Fills out and submits accident reports to the building principal/AD, for each athletic injury sustained by a student.

Is responsible for attending required league meetings to promote student athletes for all‑league honors.

Is responsible for the general health and welfare of students in his/her sport and gives appropriate attention to students who are injured, ill or otherwise incapacitated.

Is responsible for guiding the actions, dress, and conduct of his/her students whenever they are under his/her supervision.

Makes recommendation for letter awards and is responsible for clarification of the award policy to students, if applicable.

Is responsible for seeing that all participants have transportation home when returning from road trips in late evening hours.

Hands out awards and maintains records for award programs at the end of the season banquet or meeting, as required by the supervisor or department.

Enforce preseason and in‑season eligibility requirements for academics, physical exams/waivers, concussion testing, and others (if applicable) in partnership with the athletic/activities department & supervisors.

Supports the philosophy and mission of USD 490 El Dorado Public Schools, including the #PartOfThePride Commitment. Implements policies and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook, the Coach, Sponsor, Director Handbook, and USD 490 Board of Education Policy.

Is responsible for maintaining records and documentation for his/her program as required by the supervisor.

When applicable and with the direction of the supervisor, coordinates and communicates with higher and lower level coaches, directors, and sponsors to develop an aligned and comprehensive development plan for the program.

When requested, provide the supervisor with details pertaining to the program.

Perform any additional duties as assigned by administration.

Facilities & Equipment

Is responsible for the general upkeep and supervision of equipment under his/her supervision.

Is directly responsible for a complete inventory of the equipment used for his/her program, to be made at the end of each season.

Shall take appropriate action to see that his/her play areas, shower and locker room are clean and safe for student participants, and the facility left in a condition as instructed by the supervisor (example: equipment stored, nets removed/replaced, doors locked, etc.).

Practice, Meeting, Rehearsal, Event, Performance, or Competition

Is responsible for keeping meeting, practice or rehearsal periods within the guidelines of the time specified by the building principal/AD and Board policies. Meeting, practice, or rehearsal schedules (including over holiday/school breaks) are pre‑approved by principal/AD and any practice schedule changes are communicated and approved by principal/AD.

Instructs students in fundamentals, skills and rules, and best‑practice strategies in the development of a team, ensemble, or student organization, as defined by the supervisor with the head coach, sponsor, or director. Provide basic first aid and injury response or prevention techniques when applicable.

Manage online platforms and equipment for filming performances & competitions or managing rosters, participation, or event programs.

Travel Budget & Fundraising

Is responsible for clearing with the principal/AD, the departure time for trips involving students and for seeing that the faculty is given adequate notice.

Transport students to and from facilities using district transportation regularly or as needed.

Is responsible for following all purchasing, fundraising, and budgeting procedures as dictated by the supervisor, school, or district.

Follow all transportation guidelines for vehicle check‑in/out and while on trips with students.

EVALUATION Performance of this job will be evaluated by the building principal and athletic director in accordance with provision of the Board’s policies. The head coach, director, or sponsor’s evaluation should be completed within two weeks of the end of the season or term.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT For each season, salary, benefits and working condition to be established by the Board and in relevant areas those items contractually agreed by the USD 490 El Dorado Public Schools and the El Dorado Public Schools Negotiated Agreement. Transporting Students Required : REQUIRED

Physical Requirements : LIFT & CARRY 40 POUNDS AND STAND/MOVE FOR 3 OR MORE HOURS AT A TIME

Additional Responsibilities

Prepare and attend a performance schedule, as coordinated with the Activities Director, including: KSHSAA/KMEA festivals/contests, among others; Community or honor orchestra performances or auditions; Concerts.

Coordinate with Audio/Visual Techs and the Building Principal to ensure the facility A/V system is set up and runs successfully during the event.
