Serves as a senior member of the Alumni Engagement team and the primary staff member in Advancement responsible for regional alumni programming, including designing and executing a comprehensive regional events strategy to support alumni engagement and donor cultivation and stewardship around the world. Collaborates with colleagues and volunteers to execute presidential, networking, academic, affinity and social events designed to provide an engagement platform that supports current and future philanthropic support. Manages members of the Alumni Engagement staff to deliver programming that maximizes engagement in support of Advancement goals.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $74,958 - $93,698 per year.

Core Responsibilities

Manages members of the Alumni Engagement team, ensuring a diverse program of engaging events and opportunities, on and off campus, and virtually, for alumni to stay connected with Middlebury and to support Middlebury’s philanthropic goals.

Serves as the program lead, and collaborates with colleagues and volunteers, to execute presidential, networking, academic, affinity and social events regionally; Develop engagement strategy for key regions to ensure a variety of activities to engage a diverse constituent base; develop, plan, and manage individual events to advance relationships with external Middlebury constituents, engaging faculty, students, and campus staff as appropriate.?

Recruit and manage volunteers for regional chapters of the Middlebury Alumni Association and other volunteers planning events around the world; collaborate with regional volunteers to generate ideas for compelling events and support event production and marketing; coordinate with alumni and parent hosts regarding event details; develop and institute a plan to thank and recognize hosts, speakers, volunteers.?

Coordinate event production and logistics, including: venue selection and management, catering, transportation, signage, decorations, audio/visual, presentation materials, other event collateral, event briefings for staff, hosts, speakers and follow up communications; coordinate with event speakers regarding details, including travel; determine invitation criteria and design marketing plans for driving attendance, including designing and sending invitations, coordinating personal outreach, and executing other appropriate follow up with guests.?

Serves as a member of the Reunion planning and execution team, offering logistical coordination and direct support of reunion classes as necessary and oversees several major annual on-campus events, which may include events such as Homecoming, Bread Loaf Volunteer Weekend, Athletics Hall of Fame, Alumni College, as well as other alumni affinity and identity-based programming.

Advances strategic partnerships with other campus entities including the Center for Careers and Internships, Academic Affairs and the Provost’s Office, Athletics, and others.

Identifies and executes new and innovative engagement efforts and evaluates effectiveness of engagement opportunities towards reaching Advancement goals.

Requirements

Seven years of related experience required. Experience in a fundraising environment preferred. Experience supervising professional staff preferred.

Middlebury graduate preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Excellent organizational, event planning and teamwork skills required, in a fast-paced customer service-driven environment.

Knowledge of desktop applications and relational databases required.

Must be incredibly well organized and able to manage multiple events and projects concurrently. Must be detailed-oriented, able to work well, solve problems, and maintain composure under pressure. Must handle confidential matters with appropriate discretion.

Valid driver's license required for travel and event support.

Evening and weekend work required; some travel.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and climb stairs.
