Your role and responsibilities
As a Brand Sales Specialist for Data Platform, you will create demand and progress opportunities to close for Data Platform solutions. You will specialize in IBM's comprehensive portfolio of data platform products, driving sales growth and customer adoption.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Serve as an expert and trusted advisor, working closely with clients, IBM's broader sales teams, and Business Partners to understand their business and technical requirements within the current competitive landscape.
Leverage your knowledge of IBM's Data Platform product suite to present value‑driving solutions that compel clients to invest in IBM's offerings.
Collaborate with Digital Sales Specialists to provide deep product skills and technical knowledge, showcasing how IBM's Data Platform products will positively impact clients' businesses.
Engage in territory prospecting and planning activities to identify, nurture, and develop leads, ensuring a steady pipeline of opportunities for the sales team.
Utilize the Digital Sales technology stack to effectively engage with prospects and clients, employing core selling skills and digital engagement techniques.
Team up with Ecosystems and other IBM sellers to create a cohesive and compelling sales approach, driving client success and fostering long‑term relationships.
Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
Proven experience in a sales and / or technical sales role, preferably within the data management or analytics space.
Strong understanding of AI (especially Gen AI and Agentic AI), data platforms, data warehousing, data intelligence, and data integration domains.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and partners.
Self‑motivated, with a passion for continuous learning and staying current with industry trends.
Preferred technical and professional experience
Data Platform Portfolio Knowledge: Experience with a broad range of Data Platform solutions, including WatsonX Code Assistant, OpenPages, Business Analytics Enterprise, and Cloud Pak for Data, to identify and pursue new sales opportunities.
Multi‑Product Sales Expertise: Experience in managing sales cycles and progressing opportunities to close across multiple Data Platform products, with the ability to collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to drive revenue growth.
Industry‑Specific Sales Strategies: Experience in developing and executing demand generation strategies tailored to specific industries, increasing awareness and interest in Data Platform solutions among customers and prospects.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full‑time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job‑related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part‑time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro‑rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
