About Slate Studios Slate Studios is a New York–based content production studio specializing in high-end photography and motion for luxury fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands. We produce elevated campaigns and e-commerce content for leading global clients.
We are seeking an experienced
Freelance Digital Tech
to support our studio and location productions.
Position Summary As a Digital Tech at Slate Studios, you will manage all on-set digital workflow, ensuring accurate capture, file integrity, color consistency, and organized asset management from shoot through handoff.
This role is critical to maintaining production efficiency and premium quality standards on fashion and beauty campaigns.
Key Responsibilities On-Set Digital Capture Manage tethered capture (Capture One preferred)
Monitor exposure, focus, and file integrity
Apply color profiles and maintain visual consistency
Build and maintain structured session folders
Workflow & Asset Management Oversee file naming conventions and shot organization
Perform secure backups (on-site + redundancy protocols)
Prepare selects for client and creative review
Maintain organized transfer and archive process
Technical Support Support photographers with camera, tethering, and monitor setup
Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently
Maintain calibration standards for monitors and displays
Client & Team Interface Work directly with photographers, producers, art directors, and clients
Maintain calm, professional communication during fast-paced shoots
Requirements Location & Availability Based in New York, NY
Available for on-site freelance production days
Experience Proven experience as a Digital Tech on fashion/beauty shoots
Strong understanding of professional studio workflow
Technical Skills Advanced proficiency in Capture One
Deep understanding of tethered workflows
Knowledge of file structure, color management, and backup protocols
Comfortable working with Phase One, Canon, or equivalent systems
Personal Attributes Detail-oriented and process-driven
Calm under pressure
Efficient, organized, and proactive
Bonus Experience in luxury campaign environments
Familiarity with high-volume e-commerce workflows
Understanding of retouching handoff standards
