Summer Fun Camp Director
$27 per hour • Onsite
The City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department is in search of energetic and fun-loving people for a part-time, temporary Summer Camp Director position to operate the 2026 Summer Camps.
About the City The City of Falls Church is an independent city six miles from the nation’s capital. It is small in area (2.2 square miles) and population (about 16,000 people). The City is known for its urban village community, quality customer service, nationally ranked school system, environmental activism, and endless community activities.
Responsibilities
Plan, organize, supervise and evaluate all aspects of the Summer Fun playground program for children ages 5 through 12.
Assist with the hiring process and supervise training of counselors.
Create and implement weekly themes and activities; plan and schedule a weekly field trip or entertainment visitor to the camp.
Supervise a staff of eight counselors, one head counselor and 20 counselors in training.
Provide a safe and fun environment for approximately 115 campers per week.
Organize camper paperwork and communicate regularly with parents.
Dispense medication as needed and document all incidents and accidents.
Qualifications
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and be a graduate from an accredited college or university with major coursework in recreation, leisure services, education or a related field.
Applicants must have at least two years in a camp setting and a minimum of five years’ experience working with children.
Applicants must have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification, as well as a Medication Administration Training certificate before June 1, 2026.
Extensive experience in working with youth can be substituted for education.
Hours Pre-camp planning hours are flexible. Camp dates are June 15 through August 7, 2026. Camper hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Director hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Salary $27.00 per hour with no benefits.
