Save Job

About Dockwa Dockwa began in 2015 after seeing how much time marinas and boaters waste on voicemails, paper forms, and chasing payment details.

We solved slip booking first, then listened. Operators told us the real pain lived in contracts, billing, fuel, POS, scheduling, and reporting. So we built Dockwa into a full marina operating system, shaped by people who have done the work: more than half of our team has hands‑on marina industry experience.

Today, Dockwa doesn’t just make boating easier—it connects marinas and boaters in one shared system, so communication is clearer, expectations are aligned, payments are simple, and every interaction turns into a better experience for both sides.

About the role As Product Designer for Marina Software at Dockwa, you'll own the design experience for the B2B software that marina operators use to run their businesses—from managing reservations and contracts to processing payments and analyzing performance.

This role reports directly to the VP of Product. You'll establish design foundations for our marina management software: building design systems that scale complex workflows, conducting user research with marina operators, and creating product‑led experiences that drive activation and retention.

Core responsibilities

Design intuitive, powerful experiences for complex marina business workflows: reservations, contracts, recurring payments, point of sale, service management, reporting, and multi‑user admin interfaces

Create product‑led onboarding flows that get new marina customers from signup to value quickly—reducing time‑to‑activation and improving conversion

Build and maintain Dockwa's B2B design system with reusable components and patterns that scale across our expanding product suite

Own the full UX research process: interview marina operators, conduct on‑site visits to observe workflows, and translate insights into design decisions

Design for real business contexts: multi‑user environments, different permission levels, seasonal staff turnover, and high‑pressure operational moments (think Saturday morning of 4th of July weekend)

Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Go to Market to ship features and iterate based on what drives retention and expansion

Who We're Looking For Required Experience

5+ years designing vertical SaaS or business management software (POS, property management, field services, etc.)

Portfolio must show complex workflow design with multi‑user environments

Strong UX research skills with proven ability to independently own the full research process—from planning and recruitment to synthesis and design translation

Experience building and maintaining design systems at scale

Proven track record designing business management tools, SaaS applications, or enterprise software

Proficiency with modern design tools (Figma required) and AI‑powered design capabilities

Deep understanding of user‑centered design principles and best practices for B2B software

Highly Valued Experience

Product‑led onboarding: portfolio examples showing improved activation or conversion metrics

Freemium or tiered pricing models: designing experiences that communicate value and encourage upgrades

Multi‑user/organizational hierarchies: designing for different permission levels and user roles

Dashboards and data visualization: making complex business data understandable and actionable

Experience at vertical SaaS companies (Toast, Mindbody, Shopify, ServiceTitan, Procore)

B2B marketplace understanding (supply and demand dynamics)

Experience in hospitality, property management, or field services software

Who Thrives Here Dockwa is a lean, fast‑moving team. People succeed here when they:

Are high‑agency:

You don't wait for perfect specs or complete information. You identify problems, propose solutions, prototype ideas, and drive outcomes.

Get their hands dirty:

You visit marinas. You watch users work. You build prototypes. You test in the field.

Embrace ownership:

You own the marina operator experience end‑to‑end. When designs don't land as expected, you iterate and improve.

Balance craft with speed:

You know when to polish complex workflows and when to ship and learn.

Challenge ideas, then commit:

You bring your perspective, debate vigorously in design reviews, and then fully support the decision.

How We Work We are a small team that is winning. We intentionally preserve a lean organization because we want people at the source of problems with clear ownership and autonomy.

We move fast. Context is something we try to give but it doesn't always land perfectly. It's always okay to ask why. Over time, the trust battery goes up.

Everything is solvable. But not everything should be solved. We hate context switching. We'd rather keep people deep in a problem than abandon cart—but we won't chase bad bets for the sake of it.

We have a remarkably good group of humans here. There are no rules or roads where we're going—which makes it damn fun to take the pen and shape the next few turns.

What We Offer

Competitive base salary ($140K-$180K depending on experience and location)

Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits for you and your family

Flexible, remote‑friendly work environment (Newport, RI headquarters with regular on‑site collaboration opportunities)

Regular opportunities to spend time with users—marina visits, boat shows, on‑water user testing

A team that values transparency, direct communication, and doing the work
