Revenue Tax Specialist 3
to join our
Individual Tax Enforcement
team!
Qualifications Six semester hours in accounting, business, economics, finance, management, information systems management, or quantitative methods plus one of the following:
Five years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting.
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus two years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR
A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR
An advanced degree or Juris Doctorate plus one year of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or a current Louisiana license to practice law.
Experience Substitution:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties
Initiates action to stop all collection and legal action as soon as notice of a bankruptcy petition being filed is received.
Computes liabilities due to the date of the bankruptcy adjudication, reviews taxpayers’ accounts for filing records, records of payments, etc. to verify taxes reported and payments made.
Manages all activities related to Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.
Monitors and tracks Chapter 11 cases for possible referral for legal action and track the progress for post-confirmation legal action permitted under the confirmed plan.
Maintains and monitors database and reports on required actions necessary.

A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments. It is a requirement that all Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana.
LA R.S.15:587.5, 587.6 and the IRS require the Louisiana Department of Revenue to conduct a criminal history records check of a prospective employee who will access federal tax information to perform job duties. Any applicant who receives and accepts a conditional offer of employment will require a completed criminal history records check prior to his or her first day of work.
