Job Description and Duties This position is located in the Home Loans Division and is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the underwriting and processing of residential home loans for veterans within the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) Home Loan Division. The incumbent must possess comprehensive knowledge of lending guidelines across multiple program and product types, including private mortgage insurance, United States Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) guarantees, and associated claim processes. The position requires a thorough understanding of real estate principles, practices, documents, and legal instruments used in loan origination and underwriting. Additionally, the incumbent must demonstrate expertise in property valuation, minimum property requirements, lending compliance, disclosure and privacy laws, and relevant rules and regulations—specifically the Military and Veterans Code and Title 12 of the California Code of Regulations. The Associate Property Agent is expected to provide exceptional customer service and represent the Agency with professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

Responsibilities

Underwrite and process residential home loans for veterans.

Apply lending guidelines across multiple program and product types.

Ensure compliance with real estate principles, legal instruments, and disclosure and privacy laws.

Maintain knowledge of relevant rules and regulations, including the Military and Veterans Code and Title 12 of the California Code of Regulations.

Provide exceptional customer service and represent the Agency with professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of lending guidelines across multiple program and product types.

Thorough understanding of real estate principles, practices, documents, and legal instruments.

Expertise in property valuation, minimum property requirements, lending compliance, disclosure, and privacy laws.

Knowledge of Military and Veterans Code and Title 12 of the California Code of Regulations.

Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service and represent the Agency with professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

Must take and pass the Associate Property Agent examination to establish list eligibility prior to job offer.
