Our client is seeking an experienced Property and Casualty Underwriter to manage a designated portfolio of accounts and drive both new and renewal business opportunities. This role is responsible for evaluating risks, analyzing submissions, determining coverage terms, and setting appropriate premiums in alignment with underwriting guidelines and delegated authority. The ideal candidate brings strong technical underwriting skills, sound judgment, and the ability to build productive relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders. This position requires a balance of analytical expertise, market awareness, and the ability to deliver high‑quality service while maintaining a disciplined underwriting approach. Key Responsibilities

Underwrite new and renewal Property & Casualty business in accordance with underwriting standards and delegated authority. Review applications, policy forms, endorsements, and supporting documentation; request additional information as needed. Evaluate risk characteristics including coverage value, location, usage, safety features, and loss history to determine acceptability. Determine appropriate coverage limits, pricing, terms, and conditions based on risk assessment and underwriting guidelines. Manage an active portfolio of P&C accounts, ensuring profitability, retention, and alignment with business targets. Identify exposures and ensure compliance with applicable state, national, and carrier‑specific regulations. Provide premium forecasts, business plans, and reporting to support budget and performance objectives. Maintain and strengthen broker relationships; collaborate across teams to manage submissions, quotes, binds, and policy issuance. Partner with brokers to develop customized insurance solutions that meet client needs. Drive new business opportunities and ensure timely review of renewals to maximize retention. Participate in marketing activities, industry events, and training to stay current on market conditions and underwriting trends. Stay informed on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and evolving P&C market dynamics to adjust underwriting strategies accordingly. Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience considered. 5+ years of Property & Casualty underwriting experience. Must meet minimum requirements for state P&C and/or surplus lines licensing. Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation is a plus. Strong analytical, technical, and decision‑making skills. Ability to build and maintain strong broker and stakeholder relationships. Excellent communication, organization, and time‑management abilities.
