Serco is hiring a Senior Marine Electrician to be part of a dynamic team supporting our U.S. Navy located in the beautiful surroundings of Newport News, Virginia.

Serco supports our U.S. Naval Ships with cabling, equipment, and C5ISR system installations for our Military. You will join an amazing team to fabricate and assemble various electromechanical and electronic assemblies while applying appropriate safety techniques.

In This Role, You Will

Receive initial instructions and equipment requirements; perform recurring work independently; work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions, including troubleshooting and correcting malfunctions.

Conduct various tests or experiments that may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures and make subjective judgments in measurement; select, set up, and operate standard test equipment and record test data.

Perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed such as constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapting standard equipment.

Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.; perform computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plot data and draw simple curves and graphs.

Perform simple or routine tasks or tests such as tensile or hardness tests; operate and adjust simple test equipment; record test data.

Rely on your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and you will typically report to a supervisor in a safe work environment.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have

A High School Diploma or equivalent.

The ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance.

The ability to gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation, and pass a drug screening.

The ability to obtain an OSHA 10 certification.

The ability to get respirator qualified and wear PPE throughout the work shift.

A combined minimum of 8 years experience in electrical work and/or shipboard experience.

Experience managing a crew of various trades (6-10 people).

A combination of 8 years of experience in the following areas:

Competency attaching fiber optic, RJ-45, DB type connectors

Read drawings (Tradesman level)

QCI instruction of lower techs

Implement safety program/SRAR Qual/CP

Preliminary QA testing, MCTs, space closeouts

Multipin competent

Electrical testing requirements, e.g., ground checks, RSPT testing

Layout & cutting of electrical enclosures, electrical hook-ups & multiple meter knowledge

Reading drawings (Apprentice level)

Band/pack MCTs/RISE

Layout & mount small equipment as needed

Basic knowledge of tools, QA documents, meter

Safety: Actively participates in safety surveillance & walk-throughs

Familiarization with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.

The ability to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in a kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 lbs with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 lbs for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position.

Attention to safety, which is critical.

The ability and willingness to travel up to 25% to various work sites.

Additional Desired Experience And Skills

An active DoD Secret clearance.

An OSHA certification.

Fiber optic certification.
