
Description
This position is responsible for providing appraisals of real residential property for the purpose of calculating tax assessments and analyzing collected data to estimate residential land value.
Salary & Benefits The starting salary will be $20.88 per hour and there is an additional pay for hours worked for those possessing State certification: $2 per hour for Residential certification or appraisal license and $4 per hour for General. Duties
Conduct appraisals of property categorized as single family, multi‑family, condominium, tax‑exempt and agricultural by auditing properties, inspecting sites and interviewing.
Research, gather, and interpret information on residential appraisals.
Conduct field audits of properties that are existing or under construction to verify modifications that affect the value.
Develop and maintain appropriate records.
Investigate, present, and defend property values in a manner that complies with the State Tax Commission Statutes and Board of Equalization.
Perform additional duties as required for this job class.
Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in residential appraisal or real estate sales, or one year of experience working as a Residential Data Collector for St. Louis County; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Current payment of personal and real property taxes is required.
Special Requirements Must possess a valid driver's license.
Selection & Appointment Applicants will be evaluated based on recentness and appropriateness of education and experience, answers to supplemental questions, reference checks, and other relevant information. The top five candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision. Applicants may be required to complete additional screening and submit a Conviction Questionnaire.
