Customer Service Representative III

to join our team at our Northwest Portland Branch.

This position is responsible for acquisition, retention and expansion of new and existing customer relationships. The CSR III provides exceptional customer service by taking ownership of the customer experience from introducing the customer to Mechanics Bank through profiling the customer, assessing their banking and borrowing needs, and recommending appropriate products based on a thorough knowledge of Mechanics Bank products and services. It also involves providing teller services and processing tasks while maintaining superior customer service at all times.

What you will do

New Accounts/Sales Activities

Interview and profile customers to recommend appropriate banking products and services.

Partner with other business lines within the Bank to identify sales opportunities and provide an outstanding customer experience.

Process complex transactions such as changing account ownership, living trusts, guardianship accounts, and estate assignments.

Originate consumer loans, acting as customer advocate to ensure prompt processing of consumer loans.

Open and close customer accounts including checking, savings, money markets, certificates of deposit, and IRAs.

Cross-sell bank products and services to new and existing customers when appropriate, and refer non-banking products to other business units.

Participate in sales programs to generate new customers.

Sell financial products and services to meet referral and personal performance goals.

Maintain thorough knowledge of bank products and services.

Service Activities: Set a positive example for CSR staff and advocate for customers.

Actively listen to customers and resolve difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.

Support branch lobby management.

Provide exceptional customer service utilizing the STAR qualities (Seamless, Trustworthy, Attentive, Resourceful) in person or on the telephone.

Use the HEAL guidelines (Hearing out the customer, Easing the tension, Acting to improve the situation, Leaving a positive impression).

Look for opportunities to exceed customer expectations.

Participate in two community events per year.

Teller Activities: Perform daily teller services including processing deposits, withdrawals, holds, loan payments, travelers checks purchases, stop payments, transfers, direct deposits, cash advances, and related matters.

Balance cash drawer independently and maintain cash over/short records per policy.

Assist with vault cash control as assigned and balance daily.

Performs project responsibilities such as processing and balancing ATM, balancing travelers’ checks, daily branch balancing, Customer Information System input, branch supply orders, and monthly branch report generation.

Assist other CSRs in completing work assignments and balancing.

Participate in branch audit functions and follow bank policies and regulatory requirements.

Performs other duties as required.

Who you are

Minimum of 3 years job experience as a CSR/New Accounts Representative or equivalent, plus demonstrated ability in an operations area related to bank or retail operations.

Technical skills to operate teller software, Word, Excel, and other bank-related computer programs.

Strong customer relations skills and the ability to communicate and work well with employees and customers in a cooperative, positive manner.

Self-starter, dependable, able to work within deadlines under pressure.

Excellent judgment and ability to accept responsibility and handle confidential information.

Ability to work quickly and accurately, to analyze information and make decisions.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $28.94 hourly
