As a Banking Service Professional, the Personal Banker will provide effective support of sales and service activities within the banking office, develop new business by educating existing and potential clients, and exemplify Valley’s quality service standards. The role involves analyzing client needs, recommending solutions, selling bank products and services, performing routine banking transactions (teller and platform), and supporting the Market Manager in achieving quality service while complying with operational procedures.

Job Description Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley’s mission statement and engage customers with friendly, professional service.

Know all bank products and services and educate customers, demonstrating and cross‑selling products.

Present a confident, professional demeanor to establish trust and gain customer knowledge; analyze needs and recommend appropriate products and services.

Meet with customers to analyze financial needs and maximize sales opportunities. Offer all bank products and services, assist with other service needs, open new accounts, and discuss/ sell loan products while promoting online and mobile banking.

Meet customer expectations and achieve service quality standards. Participate in the sales referral process, ensuring customer financial needs are met and assist management in coaching and mentoring branch staff.

Perform all transactions required by a customer and use appropriate technology to provide services most effectively. Maintain and balance a cash box and utilize technology such as Teller Scanning Equipment, Cash Recycling, Cash Dispensing, and Coin Machines.

Act as Vault Teller, ensuring adequate branch cash for daily transactions, assist with ordering and shipping currency, and distribute cash to tellers within prescribed limits.

Assist in community events (e.g., Habitat for Humanity) and support CRA initiatives, activities, and programs.

Report all significant matters, issues, and unusual customer activity to the Manager and maintain personal knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements.

Maintain knowledge and compliance with the Bank’s Code of Conduct and all policies and procedures.

Requirements Required Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to write correspondence and accurately demonstrate products and services.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, attentiveness, information retention, tact, and diplomacy with customers and employees.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills to uncover and resolve complex customer issues.

Ability to make sound decisions, including on‑the‑spot decisions regarding customer transactions, weighing customer satisfaction against risk.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled form.

Deep understanding of retail banking and strong customer service skills, engaged in conversation regarding products and services.

Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, and high degree of accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Proficient computer skills.

Required Experience

High School diploma or GED and minimum 1 year of business services experience in branch banking and knowledge of branch operations or successful completion of a Valley retail training program.

Associate's or Bachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting, business, finance, economics or related field is preferred.

Preferred Experience

FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions).

Job Details Pay Range: $17.74 - $29.57 / hour
