About this role: This position is located on-site at our Santa Cruz location.
The CRE Administrator has strong expertise in both real estate valuation and commercial credit underwriting. The CREA serves as the Bank’s in-house specialist for appraisal oversight, environmental due diligence, and collateral risk analysis, while also underwriting new and renewed commercial real estate loans. Role is positioned for growth based on performance and demonstrated expertise.
Manage the Bank’s list of approved appraisers and directly order appraisals for real estate secured transactions
Review all real estate appraisals to ensure they are performed within Bank and regulatory policies and procedures
Manage third-party formal appraisal reviews and complete internal review forms for all real estate appraisals
Manage the Bank’s real estate environmental due diligence ordering to ensure Bank and regulatory policies are maintained
Exercise independent judgment on appraisal appropriateness and credit recommendations within established authority levels
Coordinate with analytics team to manage and prepare portfolio stress testing reports
Prepare credit addendums related to real estate transactions approved subject to real estate appraisals
Underwrite new and renewal commercial real estate loan requests and render decisions in adherence with Bank lending policy. Includes performing collateral analysis and written credit approvals
Spread, review and analyze updated financial statements and supporting documentation on existing and new commercial real estate loans
Education:
BA Business Administration with a preferred concentration in Finance or Accounting
Prior Experience:
5+ years related experience in commercial real estate, banking and underwriting
Experience as a Certified General Appraiser, licensed appraiser, or formal commercial appraisal review background is strongly preferred
Requisite Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical skills
Knowledge of USPAP and current real estate valuation standards
Ability to analyze commercial property types including industrial, office, retail, and multifamily
Familiarity with environmental risk assessments and Phase I/II standards
Through understanding of the Bank credit administration process
Ability to work independently and solve complex issues with minimal guidance
Ability to work effectively at a fast pace with competing interests and due dates, but still maintain a timely turnaround time
Proficient in the use of personal computers and software programs, such as Excel, MS Word and MS Access as well as other programs specific to the banking industry
Familiar with accounting and proficient at analyzing both financial statements and real estate appraisals
