Sr. Indirect Tax Analyst
to join our team in
Houston, TX
(On-Site 5 days). We are seeking a detail-oriented Sr. Sales & Use Tax Analyst to join our tax department. This role will be reporting to the Senior Indirect Tax Manager. The position will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of our multi-state compliance cycle, defending our position in audits, and maintaining the integrity of our tax-related data across multiple jurisdictions and legal entities. Duties and Responsibilities: Compliance & Filing:
Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns. Ensure timely payments and maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar. Account Reconciliations:
Perform monthly reconciliations of sales tax payable accounts. Identify and resolve discrepancies between the GL and tax reports. Audit Support:
Assist the Senior Manager in gathering documentation, pulling invoices, and preparing workpapers for state and local tax audits. Data Preparation:
Gather data needed for our annual Property Tax filing and monitor the property tax accrual for any adjustments needed. Exemption Certificate Management:
Review, validate, and manage customer/vendor exemption certificates. Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding taxability and documentation. Research:
Conduct basic taxability research on new products, services, or legislative changes to ensure ERP system accuracy. Education & Skills: 2-5 years of experience in Indirect Tax (sales & use tax) Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar Proficiency in Microsoft products, experience with ERP systems and tax software. Use of tax research tool (e.g., RIA) Strong analytical mindset, ability to meet deadlines, and clear communication skills for interacting with internal and external contacts including authorities.
