Job Overview The CCG (Core Consultant Group) is Oliver Wyman’s pool of early-tenured consultants. The CCG typically has between 0-4 years of consulting experience and join at entry-level as university graduates.

Role and Responsibilities The Talent Manager is primarily responsible for the staffing and performance management of a group of consultants (approximately 40-50). They are in constant contact with their consultant group to understand current strengths, development objectives, personal preferences and career goals, and they interact with Partners and Talent Managers across the business to assemble teams and address issues. A successful Talent Manager balances business needs with consultants’ career goals and development needs to deliver appropriate staffing and talent management outcomes. They work in a tight-knit team against demanding timelines to support Oliver Wyman’s business model. This is a hybrid role that requires a presence in our Midtown office 3 days per week; full remote work is not available.

Talent Management:

Ownership of staffing for the consultant population (approximately 40-50 consultants, in NYC)

Track consultants’ performance, skills and development needs to guide growth and progression

Assist consultants with employee relations issues or general Human Capital questions

Coordinate with Learning & Development on appropriate training

Keep consultant files current and readily available for project proposals

Understand the performance management framework and competency model and apply to consultants’ situations

Participate in monthly meetings to discuss performance and follow-up as needed

Support the Regional TM Head in running the semi-annual performance management process, including analysis of outcomes

Project Staffing:

Help ensure all projects are staffed via the weekly staffing process by understanding the pipeline and needed skills

Coordinate daily with the TM team to provide best-fit solutions on projects

Assist in staffing decisions across Industry and Capabilities Teams to meet client needs

Manage non-billable requests when consultants are available to optimize their time

Experience Required

Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in a fast-paced client services environment

Management consulting and/or Human Resources experience preferred

Skills and Attributes

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders (Partners to Consultants) with confidence

Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; ability to learn new tools and become a system/databases super-user used by the TM team

Strong attention to detail and high accuracy; ability to juggle multiple tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines

Ability to work with confidential data

The applicable base salary range for this role is $85,000 to $115,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
