Job Summary:

The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for fostering a positive workplace culture by addressing employee performance and behavior issues, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, and supporting key HR initiatives. This role involves working closely with leadership, safety teams, and talent acquisition to ensure consistent and fair application of policies, while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with leaders to address employee performance and behavior issues through coaching, documentation, and action plans.

Conduct investigations into employee complaints or workplace issues, providing timely resolutions.

Conduct and support annual performance evaluations twice a year, as well as 90-day evaluations for new hires.

Facilitate terminations and conduct exit interviews to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Ensure compliance with the affirmative action plan (AAP) requirements, including diversity training, coordination, and research.

Manage VETS-4212 reporting and ensure compliance with federal requirements.

Support OSHA reporting and work alongside the safety department to address workplace safety concerns.

Assist with Department of Labor (DOL) licensing requirements, drug‑testing, and CDL compliance.

Assist in developing and overseeing 30/60/90‑day onboarding plans for new hires to ensure their successful integration.

Partner with talent acquisition to manage internal transfers and promotions, ensuring a smooth transition for employees.

Oversee FMLA, workers’ compensation, and ADA accommodations, coordinating with third‑party providers like ALTRES to ensure compliance and employee satisfaction.

Maintain a visible presence on‑site to foster relationships with employees and provide real‑time support for leadership and staff.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

3‑5 years of experience in employee relations or a related HR role.

Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including AAP, FMLA, and workers’ compensation.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with employees at all levels.

Strong conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
